I guess my question is, 'What do you constitute as a troll'?

I would really, genuinely like a Mod to answer this rather than other Orgers. Thank you.

To expand a little. I have studied and taught linguistics, including the topic of trolling. The basic definition of a troll is some who "is the act of luring others into fruitless and time-consuming discussions". They start out by posting a message that is “intentionally incorrect but not overly controversial". Trolls are not moved by insults because getting insulted is their main objective: they find it amusing that they have the power to provoke anger.

I have long believed there is one troll on the Org. One which I personally ignore, but which I observe breaking all the traits of trolling over and over. The end result is an endless back and forth of insults with the original topic of discussion getting lost. I believe that this person is getting reported, I know I have reported things, yet I believe this person is also reporting others, in the hope that 'both sides' get to look equally in the wrong, even though the commonality is that the same Orger starts with subtle and not very controversial posts which gradually develop into a full blown 'us' and 'them' tennis match.

I genuinely think this orger is allowed to stay because the anger he provokes makes others look just as bad as him. I know it's a tough job for the mods proving when someone is trolling, and when they just have different opinions. That is why I would like clearer definitions, otherwise I look like I'm reporting petty posts, when in reality I'm reporting the post that ignites the fire.

Thanks for the pics too. I'll continue ignoring and hopefully other orgers reading this will do too. I'll report as and when I think it's necessary, otherwise you'll have hundreds of posts reported

Oh btw I can spot 'authentic' trolls. No 2nd chances. Some come on the org create an account just to troll and they get shown the door with my sharpened boots

Just coz some folks don't like what some folks post does not necessarily make them a troll.

I appreciate all that you mods do, but with respect this is not just an issue with a particular thread. I have been tracking this pattern for some months now, more so in P&R. There are many posts I don't like, or don't agree with. They are very different to the indisceet troll ones that start the 'off-topic sniping' ball rolling. I absolutely think people are feeding the troll right now, but not much I can do about that.

And don't go around reporting folks as trolls or labeling others as such. We mods know when there is a troll or simply someone or some folks not abiding by the rules. Like I said I can spot an 'authentic' troll with my troll radar.

Anyone that reports on others and labels them a troll just to use the mods as a way to retaliate against others "just because they have a different opinion that you don't like" will be handed out temp bans.

And those that track folks behaviour for months borders on being "stalkerish".

The mods don't support any side but the org rules.




And with that said............. as you requested
