With a section for prince.org site discussion, can we discuss? Mod, you do a great job and I really appreciate the time you spend on out behalf, but....
It does seem that a lot of potentially interesting topics are getting shoved into broad stickies.
1999 is a big release, and discussing the individual tracks, or discs seem very worthy of their own threads, but they are being shut down and redirected to the single sticky for the album.
Yet, there seems to allowance for threads like 'Originals Sales' without redirecting to the single 'Originals' thread.
Secondly, looking at this thread, both Bart and Toejam raised valid points about topics that are very relevant to 'Prince Music & More'; posting both queries correctly in the 'Prince.org site discussion'. But instead of them being 'discussed', they get a cut and paste 'Mods decision is final' response and a shut down.
They weren't challenging, they were asking, or wanting to debate the issue in the right place. There's no point having a 'site discussion' forum if the thread is shut down without discussion.
Shutting down duplicates makes total sense. I'd rather have more threads about music topics, rather than ones like 'Prince's guitar faces' but there is plenty of space , and opinion, for both. Stickies like 'Estate', 'Release X' seem far to broad to contain multiple topics.
We can't have a thread concentrating on the New Single, but we can have threads on 'P Control CD added to Discogs' or 'When 2 R In Love Video'. Seems like we are missing out discussing what's important in the current environment.
Of course, the mods decision should be final, but for the good of the site and communiity, isn't this the place to discuss and possible adapt appoaches?
Like I said at the beginning, I really do appreciate the work you do, but the current approach does seem a little heavy handed. . |
