Linking seems to have changed since the Org went down a couple weeks ago.

What you have to do now is paste your link and then choose the whole link (which should be a hyperlink, and that's the problem), and then hit the "Unlink" button in the box above. This will un-hyperlink the address, and it will post just fine.

To wit:

Oh, weird, nothing should have changed with how linking worked, but I upgraded PHP in that time and a lot of subtle differences seem to have cropped up. I'll look into seeing if I can fix this.

Nothing has changed, youtube links work just fine.

The OP has copied the hyperlink rather than the URL text, which explains why it's not working, as you can't create a hyperlink within a hyperlink, so the outer bound one is ignored and is displayed as text instead. If he had either right clciked on the youtube video and selected 'Copy video URL' he would have got:

https://youtu.be/G-pTpTMuQbs

which with the youtube hyperlink code: [ youtube ] https://youtu.be/G-pTpTMuQbs [ / youtube ]

works fine:



or else if he copied the text of the URL from the address bar he would have got:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-pTpTMuQbs

There may well have been glitches that Ben fixed, but if this was one of them then why is the OP's initial post still showing a hyperlink between youtube tags rather than an embedded video?

I do this stuff every day, so I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about. The difference is hpyerlink versus URL, it's clear to see if you look at the HTML code of the OP's post. It's a hyperlink within the youtube tags, as denoted by: <a href=""></a> when it should just have the URL.

If you edit the HTML code in the OP's post, remove the href and just leave the URL between the youtube tags it works.

That was before the glitch got fixed. The glitch won't fix itself. All the OP has to do now is correct it and the video will show.
