Once things calm down and the excitement of the new NPGMC site cools down a bit, people will be back here more again.

I could never abandon P.org, I know that much.

I'd never want to miss out on Handclaps caption threads, for one thing.

the org won't die for the simple fact that people love bitching...and doing that on prince's website is probably not a good idea especially if you want to use profanity...basically although this site has moderators its not like you are in danger of being thrown out of the club for comments you make here.

I imagine this place will continue to thrive.

For starters NPGMC you have to pay for access to the message boards - not every Prince fan wants to pay for one bad quality streaming mp3 and a couple of streaming previews of a DVD that will go on sale.

Also, since NPGMC is an official site, and Prince has a very warped view of free speech - I can imagine anyone who doesn't agree 100% with what the consensus is over there will get their messages removed (it's already happened for something trivial).

To be honest, I'd trust the Org to last the distance over any official site Also, this site has the advantage of not costing you $25 for the priviledge of visiting it.

I'm curious, but I'd be really surprised if it wasn't moderated in a more conservative way as some point.

Nah. The NPGMC wants to be what the org is, but can't, because of:

a. the starstruck/fam nature of the site, where people think Prince might see so they don't want to say anything negative; everybody there sounds/posts like a bunch of fuzzy headed Paisley flower children. Who ARE these people? Fams, that's who.

b. the presence of the PP peeps. The people with the PP handles (Prince Police? Positivity Police? ) get pissy if you say anything remotely negative, and they are censoring the chat according to Prince's beliefs about appropriate use of language. To which I say, FUCK YOU. I have an Org, I don't need you.

We'll lose a few orgers to that site, but not the interesting ones.

The Org appreciates its members more than the NPGMC does its members. That means something and in the long run...
