I was browsing old threads (circa 2003) and came across this thread (http://prince.org/msg/7/50514) about the meaning of this line in "Damned if I do" from Emancipation: "I'll fill your cup. I won't do it like Kevin."

Anyway, the correct answer isn't in the thread. The correct answer is it's a reference to the Kevin Costner movie "Tin Cup" (not Waterworld as one poster guessed). It's a movie about a golfer who can't hit the ball in the cup. The movie came out earlier in 1996. Prince has stated he's a fan of the movie, which is cool because it's a really good movie.

2) It's about Waterworld. "Damned If I Do" was recorded late 1995, when Prince was putting together Emancipation. Tin Cup came out in August 1996. Emancipation came out November 1996. However, Waterworld - where Kevin Costner's character pisses in a cup - came out in 1995, which was before the recording and supports the timeline of Prince having seen the movie and referencing it by the end of 1995 in the song.

Just because Prince allegedly said he was a fan of Tin Cup doesn't mean he referenced it. So you're incorrect on that.
