Questions for new orgers I was part of an influx of new people on the org shortly after Prince died. It was an obvious trigger for fans and even fans to be to get and share about all things Prince. I have often wondered if there will continue to a flow of new people to the org. Thus, my questions are:
1. If you have joined the org since August 2017, what triggered you to join at that point?
2. How long have you been a Prince fan?

I was on the Org for years and left of my own accord. I happened to rejoin earlier in April 2016. It seemed to be horrible timing considering the events that followed.
And I've been a fan since 1979. Found ol' boy on a K-Tel album. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

I struggled like most of us with coping with everything and wanted to have people to commiserate with. I don't have any friends or family who are as invested to talk to. Thus the or is truly a godsend. I love this place. Admission is easy, just say you believe and come to this place in your heart... <3 |

I've been a Prince fan since about 5 days after his death. I first heard his music a couple of days after he died when my parents bought some CDs and got out their old ones (PR, SOTT and Emancipation). I joined in the past couple of months, mostly because I needed a place where I could discuss Prince as I don't know anyone else who likes him, and so that I could also stay up to date with the latest news. |

Excellent! I noticed that you have been quite active. Have most of your teenaged peers ever really listened to him, or do they just judge him without hearing the music? Have you played any of your discoveries for anyone? (We need Prince Disciples!!!! ) |

You definitely have the most unique reason for joining!! Prince has such a variety of sounds and styles, hopefully you will explore a bit and find something that to get into! |

A lot of my friends say I'm a "crowd follower" because I only liked him after he died, but that makes no sense because I'm not exactly following any crowd since no one I know likes Prince apart from my parents. Although I do have one friend who I've been playing his music to since he likes Jacko, but he doesn't like it. I played him When Doves Cry and he just said "It's nothing special. It's just like any other pop song". That pissed me off. I played him Do Me Baby and he liked it, mainly due to the "Are you just gonna sit there and watch?" bit. Unfortunately, I don't think many young people nowadays are interested. I know that had my parents not played the music I would not have gone out of my way to find and listen to his music. I am very glad I have heard it now though. |

Your friend's comment that When Doves Cry is "just like any other pop song" is probably the worst music critique I have ever heard! Even a person who dislikes that song should be able to identify that it has a unique sound at the very least. There is a lot more I could add here but don't get me going . |
