Why do threads expire after 2 months?

I've been on other sites and threads never expire. So if a person wants to talk about something, they don't have to start a new thread about it, just comment in the old thread. The only reason a thread might be closed is if a mod closed/deleted it.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Threads do self lock on the org.

Now when a mod locks a thread you would see a lock

Self-locking threads well that's nothing new.

^^Those threads don't exactly give a reason why they close, just says that they self lock.

Self locked threads never give a reason, they just happen.

It seems after an amount of time goes by it happens. Nothing new.

Whoever designed this site had to set it up for threads to self lock after a certain amount of time, because like I said, it doesn't happen on other sites I've been on. You can go in a thread that's been inactive for years and make a comment in it, and then they go back to the front page, they're not locked. So it would seem to me, there was a reason for it to happen on here.

I believe this site is a coustom build by the owner Ben. So yeah it is not like Vbulletin or like gamefaqs *that i assume still close at 500 except that one time*. It is something different.

Now I might say maybe a post limit of maybe 1000 replies or inactive for a 30 days. But over all this is a very well done forum.
