Please break up the "Music & More" forum into separate "Music" and "More" forums!

This has been a wish for me for a long time now. The ones that want to discuss his clothes, hair and testicles don't have to bother any longer with these annoying posts about music, guitars and production values, and vice versa. Voila, problem fixed: a better and happier life for all!

Please co-sign if you agree.

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

The titles of the threads already "break it up".

Only nitwits who can't read willfully go into threads titled tops cs they aren't interested in.

And the threads you seem to find so abhorrent have high views so they interest someone. Lots

Just sayin

Agreed, but for me it would be easier if I could just dive straight into "Prince - Music" and not having to wade any longer through all sorts of (to me) uninteresting topics like "When Prince's clothes were a bit snug" in order to find the threads that actually interest me.

Objectively speaking, perhaps the threads you feel you have to "wade through" and are "uninteresting" are what the majority of posters want to read at this point in time.

Perhaps they aren't the problem.

The More is distracting from the Music.

Why is it that new leaks have to be regulated to one thread, yet we can have a thousand disccussions open on the various ways mostly new fans or fans that haven't been around for years either miss Prince or think 'he knew he was dying'.

11 sticky threads (only one of which is actually about Music) is ridiculous.

And then you have this shit: http://prince.org/msg/5/432177 - a thread about Prince songs, in Associated Artists Thread? Worth mentioning that it was moved out of there and then put back, causing discussion to cease because no one saw it.

yeahthat

The site has been hijacked with idolisation threads. Its just not enjoyable anymore, and not because its difficult because Prince died, buy the quality of threads and the sheer volume of posts from crazies.

How about a new 'Memorial' section where you can stick all the picture, sexuality, grief and idolisation threads?

I'm sorry, I know some people take things differently to others, but when we have people wanting to chain themselves to Paisley Park fence, because if it was replaced, they would have nowhere to leave Prince his pancakes and Captain Crunch, you've got problems.

Truly hope it ends up a done deal. Maybe the bullying/hating/nastiness that's been going on will go away if you do it. But I'm not betting money on it, there's a lot of people here looking to do nothing but cause trouble by troll and stirthepot

Me too, I certainly enjoy some of the sillier threads. cool

And I figure when I would be done reading the (hopefully soon to be realised) 'Prince: Music' forum I would have a sneak peak in the 'Prince: More' forum to see if any of the threads appeal to me. But only if I am in the mood for it! lol

I agree that the idolisation threads are now overtaking the discussion about Prince's music in the 'main' forum 'Prince: Music & More'. And that is why IMO it would be preferable to have a separate Music forum.

I think we have to appreciate the fact that Prince has different types of fans, some care more about his music and others care most about his looks, relations and pictures. Some have a lot of time to hang out here on the Org, others only get a few minutes. So IMHO it is just handier to split up between Music and More. All the threads are still there, but you can find the threads you prefer in a neat orderly way.

I'll go as far as saying that the Associated Artists forum needs to be split, too. IMO, there needs to be a separate place for the fans/foes of ex-wives/girlfriends to go at it all day. bitchfight nuts

Posts about associated artists' actual music get lost in all that mess.

I remember when there were several forums to choose from. We had Housequake, Princefams, the Org, NPGMC and so forth.

Instead of pissing, moaning, whining, weeping and knashing of teeth about your personal pet peeves, perhaps it's time to start your own damn forum and pay for it ya damn self and see how you like babysitting a bunch of whiny, ungrateful, disgruntled people every day.

The rules here are set forth by Ben and enforced by the mods. They get to decide what is allowed and that is what you agreed to when you became a member.

There will always be something in a public forum that you may not agree with. If it is against the rules, report it...otherwise, suck it up and keep moving.

As you have noticed correctly this is a public forum. And this specific corner of Prince.org is called prince.org site discussion. It has a tagline that says: "Got an issue with, or suggestion for the site? Also, the latest changes are posted here".

What you call "pissing, moaning, whining, weeping and knashing of teeth" are merely suggestions to make this website even better by sharing the stuff that a certain part of the Prince.org demography has some issues with.

You know what? I am pretty sure that this particular subforum has been especially created for that specific purpose by the makers of Prince.org. Seen in that light I don't really get your need to post such an arsy response. Well, actually I do, which just goes to illustrate my point.

Thanks for sharing your opinion though. It's good to know we all have to shut up and be grateful.

So according to your logic only the comments you agree with are acceptable on this thread? lol

I am offering counter suggestions and facts....take 'em or leave 'em.

The so-called issue is moreso one of your own invention or as you said yourself, a wish. As I said, nothing you are whining about is against the forum rules.

Furthermore, it is rather presumptuous for you to suggest adding a forum, thereby making more work for somebody else to do. Are you going to volunteer to moderate any added forums? If they want to implement your suggestion then fine, help them out.

Finally, out of the hundreds of members on this site I have not even seen a dozen people from a "certain part of the prince.org demography" that you claim, beefing about this manufactured issue, so I would hardly call your opinion a consensus.

Btw, your OP was kind of arsy too, so right bach at'cha. biggrin

Agreed. I am seriously getting to the point of abandoning the Org after 17 long and often beautiful years.

Things are made worse by the "sticky policy" IMO: if a new topic is about a little bit of information out of an article which has it's own thread already, it is shut down by the mods.

For example you have this ET sticky thread about the PP tours now where Tyka explained that she knew for two years Prince's death was coming. And where she also says Prince's unreleased music is being remixed before being released ASAP.

This thread has quickly turned into another 5 pages long death conspiracy thread, so I tried to make a separate thread about Tyka statement about remixing Prince's unreleased music. Which had some good conversation going on about MUSIC instead of death and conspiracies. It got shut down quickly by the mods as Tyka's statement about remixing was related to the ET online article/interview.

And now nowhere the remixing of Prince's unreleased music is being discussed, while I think that is a very relevant and interesting subject. I believe that people that are interested in Prince's MUSIC are getting seriously annoyed now by having to wade through pages and pages of theories and conspiracies about Prince death before maybe finding small bits of conversation about Prince's music.

The forum seems to be completely taken over by hysterical fanatics obessed over his death, blaming all kinds of people for the death of their beloved Prince whilst not having an actual clue about what really happened. Sure, these threads are also worthy for the people that enjoy that type of conversation and there certainly should be a corner of Prince.org where people can discuss Prince's death, but please keep that corner away from the MUSIC discussion.

I am sure many "cry baby" pictures and "bye bye'' posts will follow after this post, so be it. Maybe I am complaining too much, who knows? I just know that my personal enjoyment of coming to Prince.org has seriously diminished in the last few months. I want to remember and honour Prince for his MUSIC, but music discussion has almost vanished. The forum is flooded with threads about death and conspiracies. If this is what Prince.org stands for these days, I am not sure if this place is still for me. Truly a shame, as this used to be a great place for Prince fans to hang out and discuss his music.

I'm someone who has/is participating in the sparring discussion over Prince's death, and I totally agree with this. I would prefer if there was ONE sticky only -- called something like "Prince' death: Information & Theories" -- where people could hash out whatever ideas or thoughts they have about his death, and if other threads started drifting into death talk, the mods could firmly direct those poster to the death sticky. And if people didn't comply, that thread woule be locked. I would be happy to start such a thread (I've collected links to a bunch of factual/reputable info relating to his death -- his autopsy report etc. -- that I could post at the top since people tend to reference those things over and over, and I'd be happy to keeping updating that initial post with links to more factual/reputable info as it get published), if the mods were able to consolidate all death talk onto it.

-

One sticky would help with the situation that Funkaholic rightly identifies -- where death talk drowns out conversation about other aspects of a news story, interview, etc. I know that kind of intervention in threads would be more work for moderator, but perhaps there's some way it could be accomplished.

-

I too miss the conversations about music that seemed more frequent in previous months. I haven't been the biggest poster on those threads, but I've learned a lot from the insight and info from other orgers on them. I hope that music-based discussions aren't totally abandoned.

DISCH: I think your idea is a very good one. I also have much research, information, and

many links. If needed I would be glad to assist you.
