Do you still enjoy coming to the org? To say the least, things aren't the same. Coming to org, maybe for reasons in me I don't understand yet, just isn't the kick it used to be. I don't think it's grief, I think it is more of a general feeling of, what's the use?
This forum has been kind and welcoming to me, and for that I am appreciative. There are my faves I love to troll here. But there is nothing to look forward to, and Prince always gave us something to anticipate. Perhaps, if the vault is cracked and begins to leak, I will feel differently. We are all so full of here

Right now it's a little weird to me - and I'll say this openly - to sometimes see entire discussions being dominated by people who signed up AFTER April 21st.
And I could relate to damn near everyone. Because I can relate to anyone that at some point discovered Prince's music and fell in love - that's all of our stories.
What I can't relate to is people that only decided to become fans because he died and his death was mysterious and in the news all the time - and then they come here and barely talk about his music but only about his passing. I just..... I don't get that. The music is not secondary to anything. If that's your perspective then you missed his entire message. |

Not as much as I did. There's no future - no sense of "what will he do next"? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

With all due respect to young people, at times it seems like a daycare center around here with the silly threads..... but I still check in...

There's definitely more bullshit now. . I still come to check for new releases, or leaks. I come to research old threads; almost every question you could ask has a bunch of threads already answering it. I enjoy that. . I don't enjoy the wisdom teeth threads, and the fever-swamp of any thread that touches on his death. The elite trader mentality bothers me more, now. . Since his death, I think the community has splintered in their need for answers. So to one group, Vanity is the love of his life. To another, Prince was murdered. It's all bullshit, unknowable, passed off as fact, because that's what people need. . So it's mixed. The old threads are fun, though. I wonder what happened to people like Boris, or Spinlight, who used to be so good at talking music, and cutting through bullshit.

Yes of course! Its the only place to go after all these years and to commiserate with like minded peeps. Yes there are a ton of newbies on the site now and some of the irritating regulars are now gone. At least we have something new to talk about with all the recent "leaks" and if things go as planned we should have much to discuss moving forward. Long Live the Org!!!! The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.
Remember there is only one destination and that place is U All of it. Everything. Is U.

I really hate the stupid threads made either by the new fans or the middle aged house wives always talking about what dreams they had of Prince, or they cried today thinking of Prince, or if his clothes are snug and tight, or his hair, etc...
There has been such an influx of these mindless threads that a lot of the veteran members don't post as much any longer.
I joined the org as the youngest member in 2002... Obv I have a new username now, but the majority of threads now are just junk.

Actually I do still enjoy coming to the Org. Why? Simply because I like to discuss Prince in all facets of his life and because I enjoy the people that make up the Org. I'm hoping that new music comes out soon to give us something fresh to chat about. __________________________________________________

Yes, I do. I still learn something new about Prince here every day. Although there are some obnoxious people, and a lot of weirdos that showed up after his passing, I do enjoy being around the normal fans. Also, while I had trouble listening to Prince's music for a few months, I'm getting back into it now, and getting excited for future official releases and boots. I no longer feel like it's over like I did in the immediate aftermath.

I'm 40 and have been a fan since I saw the Purple Rain tour as a kid. I've been lurking here and reading threads since 2003 but I never felt the need to join until now. Lipstick Alley has been my message board of choice for the last decade plus and that's where I post and where I used to moderate. Not saying the Alley is better, but they don't lock or delete threads just because somebody got a little sensitive about their fave. I totally apologize for newbies who may start or dominate threads, but I've seen questionable topics repeated over here for years by longtime members. Prince's penis size and sexual habits have been beat like a dead horse but this is the place to discuss all things P right?

I have been a loyal and committed fan since 1980. I have come to this site for several years to read and stay up to date. Whether I agreed with some of the posts or not, I respect that everyone has their own truth. I have loved that about the Org. as it is very diverse. There are so many orgers that have so much knowledge and I appreciate them so much more than they will ever know. When P passed away, it affected me in ways that I cannot explain. To put it in simple terms, heart broken, shock, and anger. After 5 months I still struggle with it. There is no closure. Last month, I decided to join the org. I have had many wonderful discussions and have read so many interesting posts. I am concerned about the music and the legacy of this beautiful, talented, and loving soul that was truly a gift to us, if only for a short time. There are many discussions about many different things here on the org. Some fun and entertaining, others...eh... not so much. I scroll past the ones of no interests and click on ones that may interest me. It is my choice. I am grateful to have a place to come to celebrate and remember Prince. His music has helped me through some very bad times in my life and for that I am eternally grateful. Fams are hurting and we are all searching for the answers. Sometimes that search leads us down some pretty ugly paths, but we still have to walk that path in order to find the truth that will bring closure and let us begin to heal and move forward. I may have just joined the Org but I have a genuine love and respect for everyone. I will continue to come here to remember and be a part of the Org. Thank you to everyone for letting me be a part of the Org.

I agree. I had essentially lost track of Prince for decades. I might have caught him on TV (especially SNL), but the last record I bought was over 15 years ago. When he had the three-night stand at Mohegan Sun in 2013, I went, expecting to see the Prince of the 80s. My mistake since the Prince of 2013 was more of a bandleader. But at least I got to see him in person, to see the one and only. There is no other musician around (and I love Paul McCartney, but he can't do it) who was as respected - revered - as Prince was. He had no equal. He was magnificent. I came to the org after 04/21, and I have been so grateful for your knowledge, and respectful of your devotion. I am still shattered beyond words, and I don't know why, except to say, again, that he somehow is in my DNA and in my bones. I have been buying the music, the films, the videos, and I am so sad I missed him for all those years. But at least he had all of you fams to love him while he was here.

I visit more often than I used too. This place has been theropeudic for me. However, after I visit PP next month, I think this part of my life, that I have been connected to since 1984, will likley fade away.
It's been a great ride growing up with all you fans. All the music, bootlegs, trading, concerts. It's added a lot of joy to my life. All things do come to an end though.

Absolutely!!! It is a collective grieving process. I have also come to appreciate many org members. Oldfriends4sale for him sharing information and doing research, BabyNoz , Nursey, NinaB for their humor and speaking their mind, LauraRichardson for generating interesting topics others would find difficult to initiate, KrystalKisses for sharing opinion in a respectful and loving manner. and many more who have made that it the reason why I come in everyday.
This is my normal life. These marital standards cannot be recreated with money.
