That's exactly it. It's freedom of speech. HQ did some other hosting stuff that got them shut down, I think. (Pictures, videos, etc... It's been a while.) Ben always stated that it's prince.org not Prince.org, for a reason, and would always stay that way. Small p, not a capital P.

It seemed more like HQ just gave up, and bent to the pressure, but only they can tell their story.

In the end, Prince doesn't have control of the internet, nor any fan site. PrinceVault, and Prince Tour History are still around. The DTT was around for a long time, but I think Ted wasn't feeling Prince much in the last few short years, and so now it sits on his computer.

Prince would have no legal precedent to shut this site down, little thing called the constitution he would have to go up against. Plus, nothing here accept people communicating with each other, no downloads, nothing streaming, etc.

Maybe the Org rules kept us safe afterall. I know it was hard for some of us to comply with them, but they served a purpose to keep the purple police away.

Because the org (and a few others) actually stood up to him, because they knew he had no legal ground to stand on.

It was April of 2004 and Prince was in LA and I'm sitting front and center during the soundcheck and am talking with the guy sitting to my right and guess who it was? Yup, the infamous Ben! It was just so funny knowing Prince's feeling about ALL Prince related websites that weren't NPGMC and right in front of him is the evil Ben. It was just too funny! The reason why this site has lasted is because of Ben and the Mods making sure that lines weren't crossed. The other sites weren't quick enough when boots were mentioned or any taboo subjects. And yes, I did thank Ben for starting this site because I've been here since mid 90's. I hope Ben does know that he created something with a lasting impact on so many people. One simple site that outlasted all the others.

Wow how cool is that n Prince had no clue who he was? Yes I came here in 2003 and besides the PFU thing the Org has always followed the rules. Ben did create a very cool place indeed.

On the real 100...a whole bunch of us did and Ben most of all because when the purple "umbrella" opened and we were considered the evil, hateful, green-headed step children of the Prince fandom realm...he would not and did not settle for what I'm certain was thought to be the easy route and in doing so-- he provided the space for us to be just EXACTLY who we are-- Prince fans! With every single thing that encompasses. That's truthfully why the Org is still around.
