Been here for 8 years 7 months 19 days, according to 'my org'. But on my first PC, many years ago, I remembered my nickname was Jerome. Or was that my ICQ handle? Anyways, I've been a fan since '92, I been online since '97. I must have been here longer than 8 years, for sure.

I was here for 8 years 9 months, as occasional reader, but I remember as it was last spring that day when I first saw SOTT video on TV and the bass line recalled me the brass section in Girls & Boys... It was like, wow, what's that! Since that day there was no other like Prince for me. And now it's hitting me badly.
But the org makes it easier to accept.

I have been here a little over 12 years...mostly as a reader, and rarely logging in, but like others...was following the Piano & Microphone tour, hoping against hope that he would come to Arkansas, since he hasn't been here since 2001.

My one regret is that I never got to take my daughter (now 22 and about to graduate with a Bachelor's in Vocal performance) to see Prince live. Thankfully, I played his music in my vehicle constantly during her youth. She used to steal my Prince CDs to listen to privately. Her one request of me when he passed, was to please burn a copy of Emanicipation for her, as she remembered that one the best.

Still very numb, but so glad the forum is here. Thank you all so much for sharing the love.

Thank you for the gifts - we will all meet again, dear Prince.

Wow - we joined the same day. 14 years 2 months 14 days. I see a lot of people with 14 years 2 months. I think it was a dial-up internet connection back then. Had I known we would be without Prince right now, I definitely would have tried harder and more often to get to live shows and to Paisley Park between that time and now.

Thanks OP.

I haven't been here as long as others only since 2009 so almost 7 years and I posted a lot. At theh Org, time stands still so I'm still the same age as when I began. That's nice. There is no such thing as time right?

.

Another thing that is so weird is the pic Prince/team posted the night of appearance at PP. It was that clock which just says NOW for every hour.... I thought it strange then because of the emergency landing just 2 days before.

.

I do wish the silly media would get a life and remember that Prince said "wait two days or so before you start praying". He was I think referring to the fact that so many on Twitter were on hyper-alert and drama, praying for him after the emergency landing. He was just saying 'chill'. Yet still, in hindsight, seems he was not taking things as seriously as he should have been, if what has been said about the cause of the emergency landing is true.

I've been here for a long time now, used to have a different user name (don't even remember what it was) and wanted to change it for whatever reason (I forget). Anyhow, I'm glad I'm a part of the org. biggrin

Signed up in the purple and black days. Got myself a temp ban in 2004 for arguing with Sosgemi (sp?), threw a hissy fit and deleted my account. Rejoined 6 months later with my current username. Late last year I got fed up with the org and the bitching so I deleted my account but the withdrawals brought me back and signed up again 4 months ago. I think I will stick around for another 10 years or so before deleting my account again. Seems like a nice round number to refresh the stats. I would rather see a lower post count than one in the thousands. It makes me realise how much time I spend not working!

.

I remember the purple and black days. I was here back then, too. I found L4OA in 1998, the org shortly after that. It was because of Prince that I got internet to begin with. Wasn't going to, but saw him perform for the first time in 1998 and wanted to know more about him.

Been a registered user for "13 years 7 months 24 days" but spent a lot of that time without home internet, so I've been more of a lurker than a poster.

I used to get every issue of "Controversy" magazine and went to their fan meetup in MPLS in 1991, I think. It was cool meeting up with other fans there.

An orger also led me to connect with another musician who has become my favorite artist/ live performer - now that Prince is gone, I am extra thankful for that.

14 years 2 months and 15 days! Blimey o'riley, where does the time go?!

I sincerely hope the Org continues. No doubt there will be some changes as we move into a new phase. Quite what those changes will be, I don't know. But I trust Ben & co. will know what to do and when.

Btw.. what was going on 14 years and 2 months ago... seems like quite a few of us signed up to the Org around then..!

Just a quick shout out to those who've been here for a long time. (I couldn't believe when I looked and realzed I signed up 12 years ago.)

For so many years it felt like there were just a few dozen of us. I'm sure it was more than that, but I can remember in the MPG Music Club days, Prince was far less popular than he'd been and it sort of felt like he was all ours. It was an underground feeling, like when "The War" was released.

I'm thrilled to see so many new fans here (though devastated at the circusmtances) and glad they will now have access to more clips and tracks than we had then.

But I just felt like raising a glass to those who spent so much time here, as I think we're experiencing a very unique grief.

Cheers!

My acount says I've been a registered user for 14 years 2 months 21 days. I was also a member of the Paisley Park Mailing List that existed before prince.org...

I've mostly just been reading here, I haven't been a frequent poster. I've had a lot of fun and learned some interesting facts, saw pictures I'd never seen before, read newspaper articles I wouldn't normally get to read, etc.

I was a member of NPG Music Club and the LotusFlower thingy as well. I recognise the feeling of "us against the world", that was especially strong when there were mainly the hardcore/longtime fans. At the moment everybody seems to be a fan, but they often don't know many other songs besides Purple Rain and Kiss... But the "real" fans again have that "we" feeling going on. To my fellow fans I don't need to explain what impact Prince had on my life, and still has (and probably always will) through is music. How connected I felt to him, even though I didn't know the man in person. I became a fan in 1984, and stayed that way ever since.

Devastated is the right word to describe how I feel as well... I was totally shocked when I found out he had died, and was a bit of a mess for about a week. It's been 2 weeks and I'm still struggling to get used to the fact that he's no longer with us. Somehow I feel as if one day he'll just show up somewhere to do a surprise show or something...

It's hard to believe I've spent so much time with you guys.. I remember having another account but I forget the name and email I used for it. I was also around in the NPGMC days too but I wasn't interested in those days conversing over forums so I obsessed over his music and career in silence for most of that.
