anyway, "bumps" (or "bumpies", in my own org vernacular) is postin on a thread that's near the bottom of the forum, therefore puttin it back towards the beginnin of the forum--it's called a "bump".

The rule was created for people, like the thread creator, who wants to keep their thread at the top, so they put the word "bump" or something which doesn't contribute to the discussion - for the sole purpose of keeping it on top where everyone will see it first. Also, because usually when a topic has sunk to pages further back, the subject has usually been discussed and done with.

The reason we frown upon "bumping" is that it encourages people to post pointless crap just to see their thread zoom to the top of the page. Which is unacceptable because it is bad for discussion and is an abuse of service this site provides.

Our rules mention "useless" messages, and I consider "bumping" to be utterly without merit
