This is all wrong... Why is it that Langbleu.... actually, cant be bothered. Lets just have one big sticky called "Prince". Then lets have every thread related to Prince locked up and redirected to the big "Prince" sticky. Lets also end the last comment on any thread like this "There is already a thread about Prince and related stuff here http://prince.org/msg... continue your discussion there" and lock the thread.
I think thats a better way to run the org, rather than having several different threads (read conversations) about the same subject (reada hit n run show). Why do that when you can throw all the conversations into the same pot and see what comes out? I would much rather read a long assed thread, containing multiple conversations rather than choose which aspect of the topic I want to engage in. It is so much better going through hundreds of posts looking for the bits I am interested in as opposed to having seperate threads more specific to my interests. And I just love it when these multiple conversations within a thread spiral out of control resulting in mayhem.
In fact, lets just put the whole org into one long sticky! Who needs a little thing like topicality to differentiate conversation? Lets just put every single topic about Prince, related artists, religion, politics and discussion in general into a single, multi paged sticky and watch the org unravel completely. |

Rebeljuice, I love you for articulating one of the ways in which the org has lost the plot via its moderation (or lack thereof).

Excessive duplicate threadstarting is indeed a problem, I for one am glad that many newer duplicate threads get merged into the existing one. Not sure if so many duplicates are started because of laziness or because of seeking attention, but it does disrupt the flow of conversation when you want to write about a certain subject and you can't figure out which of the five threads to use. There's also less chance of posts to be seen and replies posted. "Never let nasty stalkers disrespect you. They start shit, you finish it. Go down to their level, that's the only way they'll understand. You have to handle things yourself." |

Then don't be so hard on the mods. They're doing something you refuse to do.

Politicians are paid public officials, hired by The People to represent The People.
Mods are unpaid volunteers on a privately owned website, not quite the same.
