WTH have happen to the moderators of 2013?!?

You know, there was a time when we used to have moderators that were committed to enforcing the rules and policies of the org. But I've notice in recent months (especially within September through Decemeber 2013 in P&R), the trolling AND flamebaiting of some orgers have been running rampant and the mods do not seen to give a damn about helping put a stop to all of this foolishness.

To put this bluntly, I'm under the very bad impression that the mods just do not seem to give a damn about........well, being mods anymore. And it's no wonder why the org have been a dying website AND a total joke lately. How more good orgers are all of you mods are going to risk losing before you finally realize that we need you to do you damn jobs as mods and start making prince.org matter again?

Do any of you who are mods (in name only no less rolleyes ) really care about prince.org anymore? neutral

I was just told a day or 2 ago, when trying to keep a thread on topic "I'm taking my job too seriously" which is what many mods get when they do try to help in situations.

.

We do what we can do, we reply to issues of moderation.

When you see flaming/baiting or other things that break the rule(s), then for cripes sake use the report to mod button. If we just happen to come across something, we take care of it.

We have so many threads to wade through. If you don't report stuff then it might not get taken cared of. Mods cannot be 'everywhere' all the time.

You've also got to understand that with other popular social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. that orgers flock to where ever they go to. Heck, Myspace was popular at one time. People come, people go, people return, etc. The mods are not responsible for the amount of traffic that hits the org.

Not to go too far off-topic, but which time zone are you in? I'm trying to take in consideration that some people are in time zones outside of the USA.

1. I'm done that. My last report was within 36 hours ago. Did you know about it? confused

2. I've definitely noted that mods can't be everywhere all the time, hence the only reason why the trolls and flamebaiters have been getting away with ruinning threads. In many cases, the damage is already done by the time one mod is finally available to respond to any "report to mod".

And sometimes that happens. That cannot be fully prevented. I do keep an eye on known trolls and flame baiters. The mods do give each other the heads up if anything needs to be kept an eye on. I do get orgnotes from orgers giving me the heads up, which is muchly appreciated.

Trolls/flame baiters don't wait for us to go to bed before they come out of the wood work lol

Most of the time threads are salvagable and sometimes not.

Another point. I've had people send me an orgnote asking me to moderate a thread that I didn't know existed that's 8 pages deep of a discussion and not even give me page numbers/post # of what to look for.

Giving us a link to the page and post number helps us deal with the issue faster than having to wade through 8 pages and reading every post to 'find' the 'needle in a hay stack'. Give us the page link, give us post numbers and exactly what to look for.

Wading through 8 pages of posts or more is very time consuming.

When a thread gets reported, it's the thread only. When we take care of a report, the thread does NOT take us to where the concern is exactly

located. wall

And when you respond to the baiter/flamer/troll or whatever in a negative way, then you look just as bad and yeah you'll get a spank too.

Most like they only wanted you to start on the page they are reporting about. wink But if you need a page # and reply #, that would help plenty.

lol no, they don't report a page, it doesn't come that way. They have to share the post #(s) for us to locate what's happening

I mod in GD, once known to be the wild child of the org... I just don't see that much that sets off MY alarm bells. We all have differing opinions of what crosses the line.

What is absolutley forbidden is pretty clearly defined, after that it's up to us...

I have the same concerns but for different reasons. Here are the rules of the P&R forum:

Interested in discussing your political or religious views? (Emphasis added)

One last thing: PLEASE do not copy articles verbatim from other sites or post videos without comment! If you want to quote something, or post a video, fine... say where it comes from, provide a link, and also provide ANALYSIS and INSIGHT of your own.

There is a HORRIBLE problem in P&R. There is a faction of posters that think posting hours of YouTube videos WITHOUT COMMENT, or commanding Orgers to read THOUSANDS of pages from several books before agreeing to discuss THEIR OWN POSITIONS OR CLAIMS constitutes "debate".

Clearly, it does not.

Clearly, it is a violation of the rules of the forum.

I am very glad my good friend TonyVanDam has instigated this discussion. It is high time we eliminate the "Watch hours of YouTube videos or read hours and hours of books and then get back to me" type of drivel that some want to pass off as debate.

Well... a modicum of common sense is also required... the heavily "copy-pasta'd" and "vid-linked" threads are ones I avoid wholeheartedly...

LMAO yes, but try to tell that to someone that uses that "debating" style!

They'll call you a "troll", a "disinformation agent", and "a fool that gets his news from the Illuminati-controlled media". Or, if you're lucky, maybe they'll just call you "lazy".
