Why not move prince.org to Facebook or Google+?

I've been thinking about this now and again. Prince.org has been around for a looooong time and deserves every credit for being the number 1 useful resource on all Princely matters and THE place where Prince fans can gather and 'connect'.

But, since the website hasn't change drastically in at least the last 5-10 years, I think that we are starting to miss out on functionalities that are by now considered basic on a FB page or a Google+ community.

Hence my question - and it'd be nice to hear everyone's kind opinion on this:

Do you think The Org would be better off moving to a social network, without losing any of its functionalities and thereby adding the advantages to be part of a social network where most fans probably are roaming about already?

The 'old' org can become a portal to the community pages, whilst keeping the archives and other static information (Princepedia).

What are your views on this?

PS: I noticed there is a FB page already, but compared to the website, it still very much a derivative to the actual site.
