The Problem with moving ALL Science threads in P&R

I strongly feel that the original poster's intention on the thread should determine the direction in which the thread runs, and is placed, with exception of course to GD.

Now in GD, we break that rule, as we break all rules, because most of the threads have an inherent 'banter' aspect to them that is more or less free form. In other words, in GD, the threads are often deliberately prone to jacking, and survive base solely on it sometimes.

But when it comes to a sicence themed thread, I think the originating poster's intention behind the thread should determine the forum in which he/she posts it in, not the 'flagging' words, or the potential for where some people may want to take the thread.

For example, if one were to debate the discovery of a second genesis on Earth, (aka arsenic based lifeforms that are truly arsenic based), then it should be placed in general discussion if the original poster intends for the thread to be a dicussion of the scientific implications of the discovery. However, If the originating poster wants to start a thread about such a second genesis as a challenge to the biblical canon, then by all means, he/she should do it in P&R.

I know that historically, science has been maried to religion, and therefore, politics, but scientists and researchers today don't even acknowledge religion in their scientific pursuits. And many of us marvel over only the science aspects. We don't, for example,, place technological innovations based on science in P&R--why should we place a voyager II probe thread in it? Such discovers only further scientific understanding. Sure, one could argue a religious point-of-view, but shouldn't the originating poster's intent determine where such a thread is placed?

Even an argument such as evolution, which you'd assume may be placed in P&R, should be placed in GD if the originating poster doesn't intend to challenge religious fundementalism with his/her post. Perhaps the user simply wants to understand the quatic ape theory of human evolution, and discuss it purely on it's merits, and has no intention whatsoever of arguing (often endlessly) with someone who doesn't believe in evolution.

I know this may sound overly nuanced, but it's impossible for a person to frame their debate or discussion around a scientific topic unless he can chose the appropriate audience for it.

Oh, yeah, I'm so sure that luv4u, notorious for incorrect thread moves, will really respect the nuance and intention of the OP.
