Just curious....why are certain threads in the M&M forum being deleted and totally removed? I understand some of the discussions can get spirited at times, but so what?? It's happened quite frequently in the past couple of months, and it's getting kind of tiring.

It's almost getting to the point where people can't even post an opinion without fear of getting the thread deleted because it may veer a bit on the negative side or because it may end up going in another direction than originally intended. It's not like pornography, or sexual or racial hatred's being posted. Just let shit play out in the threads!! If people don't want to read it, then all they have to do is NOT click on the thread. There are plenty of other threads for them to click on.

instead of totally removing a thread simply locking it would be easier

I don't know, I don't mod in every thread, sometimes they are just hidden until the Mod can clean it up. Then when it comes back it's just fallen of the radar sometimes

We can't delete threads,

All of these are from page 1 -7 are these the onese you are concerned with?

Most were locked because they were either Duplicates or Nonsense threads

Doesn't look like any of these didn't warrent a Lock, were there other threads you were considering?

Well, the first one that comes to mind would be the one started by Bart, "So They played Extreme's 'More Than Words'...." It says "the thread is dead, but it really wasn't. People were still posting to it.

There have been others like it recently that have been locked, but I don't remember the titles off the top of my head. I just know that I go back into them from "My Org", and it says it's missing.

the difference would be in my org status and seeing a thread highlighted indicating additional posts then seeing the message "thread missing" and being still highlighted and not being able 2 get rid of that. were as a locked thread u can look into the thread but can't post anymore into it

In Barts thread, we had so many requests of Moderation that it was sensless, and it was just way too much by that last page the thread was dead. It had spiralled into bickering posts after bickering posts. Most off topic.

Go back to your My Org, and post the 'missing' threads, and I'll seee what happened.

But as I've posted here, 7 pages in and these were the only locks. Again these I've posted were in the last few months and I don't think anyone can argue they didn't need to be locked. Again 99% being duplicates. Had nothing to do with your original arguement of why they were locked.

You know that's not how the forum works, it's never been that way. Unless you want Ben to change the rules. It's when people are taking part in threads that get clouded with peoples flaming, their attacks on others(which is against the rules) taking the post off topic(I know some can vear a little but when it's friendly it's ok) when it gets rude and the mods emails start getting flooded with 'requests for moderation' and we have to descern what's what is the not so easy part.

Some threads are no longer worth saving. Going thru and snipping almost every post, which is what I would have had to do in Barts, an that was 8+ pages

Members have to Moderate themselves and then a lot of that wouldn't happen.

Go back to your My Org, and post the 'missing' threads, and I'll seee what happened.
