When did Prince.org start up?

Is there any record of when people joined before it was re-designed to this look? I used to be starboy126 on here. I was just curious as to how long I've been posting on here. I met Ben at the Xenophobia celebration, there was even a group pic of a bunch of people.

debuted in late 1996 at http://www.togdog.com/ppml as an arcive for the PPML mailing list and a chat room.

got upgraded to the purple & black design as prince.org in 1998? 1999? with news threads and the ability to comment on them.

Got it's purple and gray facelift in Feb 2002, with the introduction of forums.

Prior to 2002, there were only forums in the sense that Ben or Matt or Kevin would post news items, under which users could post a response, and it usually veered wildly off track. So, in a sense, there was a forum. But not really.

It was in 2002 when true forums were introduced, where people could start their own threads on whatever topics they desired.

Thanks! I didn't notice the dates at the bottom before. I'm curious to browse an archive if there is one.

Site FAQ

http://prince.org/faq/1_p...g_Site_FAQ

1.6 What's the history of prince.org?

Long ago (early 1990s), there was an e-mail list called the PML, (the Prince Mailing List), which changed ownership to became the PPML (the Paisley Park Mailing List). Eventually, a website was set up by a couple of volunteers to "archive" the past PPML mailings. In May, 1998, the archive site had a major harddisk crash, and went down. While recovering the data, the entire site was re-architected, and prince.org "v1.0" was publicly born on January 1st, 1999, offering much more than just archives of past PPMLs. "Version 2.0" was launched in February 2002, and added message boards and much more. "Version 3.0" came online in February 2004, with numerous enhancements and better web standards compliance.
