It does seem a bit like a dictatorship, when you go around silencing discussions (locking) that are flowing well and many people have put alot of their time into replying on.

And I speak from the reference point of most of my time being spent in the "Music Non-Prince" and "General Discussion" parts of the forum.

All the non-mod posters on this thread here, I have interacted with in those sections. And for clarity, NONE of the mods here replying in this thread have I ever come across in threads in "Music Non-Prince" and "General Discussion". So while it's great that two mods have responded here, it seems like maybe the message is not getting to the right mod people?

dictatorship is much too much there.

No one is making anyone stay in a group they don't like,

& we are here for free, no one is forcing anyone to take money or time to come here

Some please tell me how many websites out there actually do require a payment and rules to follow. We have choices.

Also what club, whether it be night club or country club that is worth going doesn't have covercharge, or dues, dress code, rules of conduct etc etc

Can you give me an example of a discussion being locked that was just following the rules and was not a duplicate?

Thanks for the response. Yes people are here for free, because they want to conversate freely. I, and I'm sure everyone else here greatly appreciates that you and the other mods donate time into this forum to keep it running. That is not in question. Thank you.

What IS in question is some of the unnecessary locking of threads. Unfortunately I can't give you any examples right now, as I have taken less part in big discussions in the last couple of years. I can't remember specifics I'm sorry. The reason for that is because I have previously made thoughtful and time consuming responses of my own on threads that have been locked.

When I saw the other thread that this here thread references to, it was a familiar situation to me, so I wanted to speak up in support.

If I was a mod (which I'm not asking or wanting to be at this stage), I would pride myself on keeping in depth conversations and interactions flowing and thriving between the members who join for that very reason. That is the ultimate forum goal! Flowing conversation, where one thing leads to another and everyone participating hopefully gets something out of it.

Killing conversation dead would be an absolute last resort for derogatory remarks or the like.

Again, I appreciate the time you put in. But I still hope we can improve things here and keep conversation king, particularly in the Musc-Non Prince forum for me. I have discovered so many things through talking to people on that forum, when it's at it's best, it's a great thing!

I've found there are many things involved in a thread being locked. Without specifics I can't address...

the site is dealing with a lot of people of a wide range of backgrounds and intentions. Everyone isn't here 2 discuss Prince, everyone isn't here 2 learn or share. Everyone here isn't here 2 discuss. There are some very imature people, many who dare you to moderate, many who push the boundaries or skirt right on the edge of the rules.

So it would be in everyone's best interest to be careful of ganging up, mobbing threads, intimidating other members and to keep their buds in check, cause a lot of this is where, I'm finding things go wrong.

You're wrong. It's the continued site management issues by this mod that go unresolved year after year on an almost daily basis.

Other than that, no personal complaints against her. But at some point, enough is enough. Do you know how many times this conversation has taken place? Probably not, if you're only looking here and not the various facebook groups and statuses, since the mod in question usually locks or hides the threads about it.

no I'm not wrong

And I seriously don't have the time (I'm glad you all do) to be on various facebook groups & statuses talking about a particular Mod or Prince.org issues. This is really heartening thought to know that people don't have much going on that it's this personal.

Again, I have no personal beef with that moderator. The issue is in the way that the moderator handles their duties on this site repeatedly. You are wrong. You can make up all the nonsense you want based on what you think is the issue, but I issure you that it is not a personal issue, it is a moderation issue.

Nope, the thread was locked on prior to being re-directed. Yes, know one has control over when threads auto-lock but basic common sense would dictate that you don't direct traffic to a locked thread. Just pause for a second and analyse the situation before reacting. If that happened, half the stupid crap that happens would stop. IMHO.

Again, this is primary directed towards one mod who appears unable to such things.

lol

Who is attacking? Please point to any comments on this thread that can perceived as a personal attack. And for the record, I am not in cohoots with the people you have listed me with. There isn't some great big conspiracy here. There's just a desire for the mistakes to stop.

Is Mars23 still around? In the past, he has had to lobby this one mod on the community's behalf. Or what about the recent mess with the Clare Fischer thread being removed from the News Feed. That just happend last week. Come on now, let's have a serious discussion about the "mistakes" that keep happening...Again and again.

The only person that has turned this personal is you OldFriends---let's discuss actual site issues like the Clare Fischer incident. K?

Why the personal slam? For the record, as far as I can tell, know one within this thread engages in discussion about the problems of this site---off this site. The people that complain, are people who used to be well respected members of this site who just gave up. I'd site their names but I don't have their permission. And your going to belittle people because they still stay in contact with each other? And get together because they are now friends in real life? So they create groups on FB to stay in contact. It's within that context that people voice frustrations here and there. Ain't nobody sitting on their computer 24/7 bitter over this ish---it's just a thread that comes up time and time again. Don't stoop to such levels by resorting to such rhetoric. K? It's beneath us all.

I think we all realise there are immature people around, but actually that is irrelevant to what we're talking about here.

We're talking about threads getting locked for no decent reason. Forget immature people, people who push the boundaries or skirt the rules, that's an issue that hasn't existed in the threads people are talking about here.

How would you feel OldFriends4Sale, if you'd spent much time reading and writing on a thread and be right in the middle of a discussion, only for someone to lock the thread and say "take this discussion elsewhere"? It's plain disrespectful to the people that contribute. There is no forum without the people that contribute to it. The users ARE the forum.

Once again I think you're missing the point. I have no personal connection with the other people that have voiced concerns. Never had a orgnote with them, don't know who they are on facebook on anything like that.

If there's a GOOD reason to lock a thread, like there's threatening words or derogatory statements being made, then that's fine. That kind of stuff hasn't been relevant though.

Please start considering the issue itself instead of diverting blame. We all just want to talk and rant on threads respectfully about things we want to talk about without having them rudely locked in our faces FOR NO GOOD REASON. That's what this place is for.

This isn't a democracy. Mods do as they please. NO ONE is interested in making user/moderator relations any better. Accept it and move on.

I do think it is hilarious that some of you guys are being thought of as a mob or "ganging" up on someone when I know most of you and you don't even get along. lol

Thank goodness that the Org has at least one fair and rational mod. I think there are two and I wish they would chime in here.

I think the problem here is that you think it's just personal.

I quite like the moderator they are talking about.

The issue isn't the moderator--it's bad moderation.

This has been going on since i was a newbie (2004-ish), and thes 4 you listed there

are but a smidgeon of the folks who have noticed really bad moderation decisions.

I've had threads locked due to the title, the fact that someone else on the thread

posted something irrelevant to the thread (so somehow, that made my thread

lock worthy, etc. ).

The list just goes on and on, and has been going on for years.

I've been friends with most of the moderators, and have met quite a few.

And all of them have the very same issues with the one in question.

And they have brought these issues to ben.

Strict enorcement of org rules has never been the issue. It's the whoe

Forest Gump way of going about it that drives folks crazy here.

Again, not a personal thing.
