For example, i tried to add stuff to the one of the "Era's" topics ( http://prince.org/msg/7/367127 ) but a number of them are already locked. The OP posted that discussions about the specific era's can take place over there, in order to prevent multiple new discussions spreaded all over the org. But with the automatical locking it's no use. I understand the lock-use if there's a dupe or in case a topic gets out of control, but can't it be somehow fixed technically to have continued access to archived topics? Thanks in advance!

That thread you speak of in your post has locked itself. Those self locking threads cannot be reopened.
