Killfiling Love me some killfiling!
Let's get some of that here! How about it? My last petition to end the thread ratings worked like a charm! Let's start the insanity with killfiling!

You mean, being able to filter out posts from certain users? I'm all for it

Can we kill-fil moderators too? hehe just kidding
Which orger would you most likely filter, if you could? I'm too curious not to know everything that's being said. Plus (contrary to popular belief?) I respect everyone's opinion and like to hear what all kinds of people say. edit: for me to know and you not to find out [This message was edited Sat Feb 8 21:29:57 PST 2003 by Jasziah]

There should be a permanent ignore in chat.

There should be a permanent ignore in chat. Agreed. The chat system needs an overhaul one of these days...

There should be a permanent ignore in chat. Agreed. The chat system needs an overhaul one of these days... According to Ben, killfiling would be difficult to implement. I proposed this many months ago.

What's wrong with the chat system? I like it the way it is. (Sure, having it auto-update without a reload would be nice but... not nicely implemented with HTTP...) ben -- "the prince.org guy" |

Basically, yes, this is correct Although, a simple form of killfiling, for example, never seeing threads started by people you don't like, wouldn't be TOO hard, but hey, this ain't usenet... ben -- "the prince.org guy" |

I've hurt Ben's feelings Sorry man, the chat has some issues Well, as you say, the automatically refreshing window is hard on the eyes. Also for users of Windoze, the refresh causes the chat window to jump to the front - meaning you cannot run chat minimised in the background. What you want a is a nice scrolling applet so you can have the text scroll past your eyes in a leisurely manner

The Ignore feature is just fine IMO. I've used it a couple of times.

The big problem in the past (2+ years ago when the org HAD a java chat I wrote, who remembers it?) was the lack of a good free HTML-render panel for Java... otherwise you don't get the icons etc, which kinda sux. Find me one of them and I'll consider resurrecting it. It could mingle nicely with the existing webclient. ben -- "the prince.org guy" |
