Thanos is a perennial loser in every venture. That, and he's obssessed with his mother/lover, "Death" ... it's all a bit icky.
Adam Warlock, definitely | |

Bah. I'm going to have to go back and clean up all those pics that do not work.
Anywho... Thanos is a loser because of the Comic Code. Every villan has to eventually lose. Of course, it looks like it all changes with the new series The End. Thanos is great as far as a villan who is arguably as powerful as Pre-Skyfather Thor and the Silver Surfer. Smarter in technology than Reed Richards, Doom, and Kang. More dangerous a military mind than Captain America and the Gamemaster. And a villain with schemes and dreams larger than any other in the Marvel Universe. He is not a "cosmic anomoly," he is a mortal (well...kinda immortal now) who taps into dark energies. I love his growth as a character (although the whole "clone Thanos running amok" is kinda lame). I love his history and his facination with Death. And I love the grand scale on which his storylines sit upon. On the other hand, Adam Warlock is the perfect anti-thesis. Such a wonderfully written character who's been kinda left to wilt by Starlin. It was great when they resumed him for the Gauntlet and War, but by the time Infinity Crusade came out, he was written into a corner. But nobody can take away the Warlock/Magus saga of the 70's. That's some of the most psychedelic writing I've ever read in the Marvel Universe. So twisted and bizarre and very much took advantage of the altering of reality. Things that should be present when writing in the cosmic genre. I'm going with Warlock I think. We'll see if any good images come from the The End series. - cheers -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
