Just curious

Why are all race related issues on this site either locked or deleted. What is the fear about? Why can't we discuss this very important social issue on prince.org? Everybody does not have to agree on everything, but communication and the exchange of ideas, i thought, was a part of problem resolution. something like townhall meetings. Why is this not allowed on the org? I'm baffled...

The main reason is that time and time again the Org has shown itself to be completely incapable of discussing matters such as racism without it ending in a very unpleasant flame war. Since flaming is against the site rules, the threads get locked.

Racism is very real in my world. I'm constantly reminded of it on a regular basis. I believe communication will help people confront racial issues. Prince has found it necessary to address this issue why can't we? I mean this is the prince.org site.

Of course there are going to be some heavy words exchanged, as this is a very heavy topic, but not allowing the exchange of thoughts and opinions is to me, childish, We are mostly all adults and have the capacity I believe to work through our disagreements given time and opportunity. The civil rights movement was not successful overnight. There was much disagreement on both sides, the the fight for equal rights under the law continued despite the disagreements.

To try and control the pace and content of discussion will only heighten the problems associated with this sociel ill.

The way I see it...is if people can discuss issues without attacking each other personally, the thread can go on forever...trust that no moderator wants to shut down any discussion, just those that break forum rules.

I do understand your views, and will keep them in mind for future consideration when I think a thread might need to be locked or deleted.

Thanks, oragnerim. biggrin

Well unfortunately for you, this site is moderated and there are rules which will dictate the pace and content of discussion. That's the way things are, I'm afraid.

As LaV says... discussion is fine as long as it is civil and constructive. What we don't tolerate is abusive posters flaming each other. I'm all for discussing racism, but in the past we have locked threads about racism simply because people became too abusive in their posts. We will continue to do that in future.

If I may suggest, if you want a completely unmoderated forum for you to discuss the issues of racism, you should be able to find other websites that allow you to do that. Prince.org however is moderated.
