as SUPRMAN was saying.....(new mods)

Suprman started a thread on nominating people as mods and it was a fun thread.

Unfortunately I nayed another persons vote.

This led to a debate on the individual and that was the end of the thread.

Now having seen my folly, can we start again?

Who would you like to see as a mod and why?

pLEASE NO MATTER HOW eek YOU ARE AT ANOTHER PERSONS CHOICE DO NOT NAY ANYONE or this thread will get locked like the last.

Sorry Suprman for derailing what was otherwise a perfectly good thread.

My choices,

Lammastide, Shyra, myfavorite and vainandy.

There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

Frequent posters in a certain forum should not be made mods of those forums. As wonderful as the poster might be, it is simply an inevitability that their omniscience would cause problems.

Therefore, I don't believe anyone is capable of actually being a legitimate, dedicated, and impartial mod at this time. smile

How you going to have a mod who wets her knickers on every picture thread?

Balance is required... lol Both Oldefriends4sale & Nursev understand that this is a Prince FAN site unlike others who view the org as simply a blog..

I'd nominate her as Nursev is unashamed of being a Prince fan. A fan of his music and his person plus she was always fair to the 'im gona marry prince one day group o gals' without being condescending to them.

^Yeah, but the mods should also be at least fairly knowledgeable on Prince's career.

Oldfriendsforsale does. Nurse...not so much.

Yep, especially in Music & More.

If anyone should mod a forum like that, it should be someone like oldfriends4sale, langebleu or squirrelgrease. They know threir stuff, and seem to be rational, evenhanded people.

I think all these orgers would make good mods:

Deebee - P&R forum ( would be perfect for the P&R forum-he's fair and balanced, respectful, no drama, and doesn't carry any hangup baggage

Timm84 or the Audience- Non-Prince Music & More (both would make good moderators for that section)

PurpleJedi & Lammastide - General Discussion - fair/balanced/never brings drama or shows disrespect towards orgers

ALANL - Associated Artists section(Yeah I know that's a stretch but since he's worked with P's band in the past and is an orger here, he can clear up misinformation regarding P, and about former P associates, based on some of his experience) He can be an honorary or occasional moderator for that section;Ben should consider this.

no no no! no no no! no no no!

We are treading thin ice with the NurseV comments.

Anyway, why does a mod have to know a bunch about Prince? They are not there to bestow knowledge. They are not the knowledge police but the "nutty" police. They are there to keep a thread somewhat on track and keep people from being outright hateful to those that have a different opinion then they do.

I think you are right (somewhat0 about keeping Mods for threads they have not developed a strong following for.

In that way, NurseV might be good on GD and so would Squirrelgrease.

Johnart would be a no go for GD but a good choice on a music thread.

There is one exception, Timmy is very good on music threads. I find him polite and knowledgeable without being condescending and arrogant.

It is important for a mod to be able to pick their battles wisely and sometimes let some things just go. I actually found the Mrs Nelson(s) very funny and I miss them. lol

For the actual Prince-related forums, knowledge would be a plus. It would help filter out the BS.

I feel the same way about me being the perfect mod for the artist forum.

That is where orgers like squirrelgrease and such come in. They put those fams who only have 4 CD's, two of which are copies of Purple Rain, in their place!!!! Mods are just cops, nice friendly neighborhood cops who "walk the beat" of Prince.org. They are not their to start the party or fix the roads. Just keep crazy shit from getting Ben in trouble with the law.
