PAY PAL 4 The Org. Some sites dat jerously offer their access 3, but allow u 2 make a donation, as they can't run on the amount of IP's they get 8)
So who finances the org. ? Are they on Paisley Parks payroll? 8) Sam 8) Prince 2010 Good Luck for Future & Tour

The Org's bandwidth and server costs are currently financed by Ben (although I have offered to share the burden in that regard!).
At one point I was pushing the idea of "making the Org pay for itself" - i.e. if you get everyone to donate 50 cents or something it would probably cover the costs of bandwidth etc. But that'd be a controversial one maybe...

As I understand it, although Ben (and the rest of the prince.org Staff) truly appreciate donation offers, we'd prefer not to take them because, among other reasons:
1) It could create an appearance that certain .org members have "bought" themselves special treatment. For example, if the .org community feels that Joe Doakes has been violating our rules and not been "punished" appropriately by the .org Staff, and then it becomes known that Joe gave us $100, well, people are going to allege that we're going easy on Joe because he gave us money. 2) Ben would prefer that people financially support the .org, if they desire to do so, by purchasing stuff from our "Shop." Unfortunately, the Shop is down for now--I assume it has to do with Ben's move to Spain. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

Yeah this was my concern too... in paying some amount of money (even a small amount) there is a sense that you are paying for a service and you can expect a certain level of "quality of service" and treatment etc. I like the fact that the site is free and we don't owe anyone anything

What about an anonymous dontaion. Is that possible??

The costs of running a website aren't really that high - the most expensive thing is probably time (Ben's, Matt's and mine). The hosting and bandwidth costs are currently handled by Ben - so if you ever meet him, buy him a pint to say thanks

Through a secure server, I would happily donate £5.00 per year to help pay for the Org, should it ever need it. Honestly.
This is the most amazingly addictive site that I visit on the 'net. And considering that it's for free... In my opinion, an anonymous donation process would be good.

Thanks Maybe one day we'll do anonymous donations or something... for now, I've got it covered Again, I really appreciate that you guys would be willing to help out if needed. If it ever becomes necessary, I'll shout. ben -- "the prince.org guy" |
