Are suggestions for changes to the org

even considered anymore? Just wondering...that way if things are not feasable at this time, we will then know to not post ideas or suggestions until a better time.

Could Ben, Matt, or Ian enlighten us, please?

a friendly suggestion

For the most part, changes are up to Ben--the site is pretty much his creation, and I believe he owns the server that we use to host it. Ben has been pretty quiet lately, so I assume that he's currently very busy with his new job in Spain.

Speaking only for myself, I try to read the suggestions posted here. But aside from the fact that it's really Ben's site, I'm not a computer programmer (despite the persistent belief to the contrary), and I just wouldn't know how to implement any changes.

Ben, are you out there? smile
Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position.

Thank you for responding, matt.

I know that Ian has posted that Ben is the only one with access to the code, and that you and him pretty much are mostly moderators.

I've just wondered, as have others, if our suggestions are inappropriate, since Ben may not want or have time to make any changes.

I would love to help out too, but I realize that's now how it works. Either Ben asks, or there is no use volunteering.

Feedback is always appreciated and always useful. However we aren't in a position to be constantly adding new features - that would be far too big a burden on Ben who manages the site software.

However, any feedback or suggestions made in the forums will be useful and will be considered when there is time to update the site software.

Prince.org 2.0 was born out of a lot of the helpful suggestions made on the old Org. So feedback is invaluable in improving the site for everyone, even if we don't have the resources to act on that feedbac at the drop of a hat.

That's not entirely true, and it is somewhat unfair of you to suggest that, merely because we haven't had time to implement your "nuggets of wisdom" as fast as you come up with them.

Features that are considered important or must-have, are usually pushed through with me poking at Ben until he gets the free time to do it. However there have been more important concerns such as moving the site to a new server, providing better facilities for moderation etc.

We read all the feedback posted in this thread, but we just aren't in a position to act on it immediately. You'll have to live with that I'm afraid.

Where's all this negativity coming from? omg
She was just suggesting something, why are you insulting/attacking her like that? sad

I know LaV would be a great asset to the org as a programmer, she offered her help, that's all.
Sheesh...

how rude... neutral

What are you talking about, exactly? There's no "negativity", there's no "insults", there's no "attacking" in my response. Get a grip woman, and think before you post.

I was merely explaining why - since from the tone of the posts, LaVisHh seems to feel her feedback is undervalued or pointless - we do not have the resources to act such feedback immediately, but it is still of great value to the site.

LaVisHh has always provided excellent feedback, and it is reasonable to ask what exactly is done with that feedback. Which is what she did.

Apologies if I came across as abrasive, but I simply don't want anyone to feel that their feedback is not valued. I don't imagine LaVisHh was offended by my "rudeness", so you can quit sniping from the sidelines, thank you very much smile

So, are you going to punish yourself or is Ben going to punish you?

Nah, I'll just keep being a grumpy bastard. It's part of being a moderator razz smile

OKAY, I'm apparently not allowed to create any more threads today, so I'll post my idea here:

There should be a page on prince.org (not a forum) which has info about all the moderators, etc, whoever else is involved and their pictures and what they do other than the org. Also, the history of prince.org when it was formed, etc. I know a lot of this is in the FAQ, but I guess I really want to see what you all look like, along with info in a nice layout, not just faq.

By the way, what is the limit of threads you are allowed to create in a day? I don't feel like I've made that many today and I think it should be a little higher than what it is.

smile Well a history of the Org isn't a bad idea of course. As you say though, it is in the FAQ already, just not very well presented.

As for info about the Org staff... I doubt anyone would be interested smile Also, we have our "profiles" like everyone else on the Org so we can choose what we want to share and what we don't. Anyway, the Org is all about the people who post here every day, and less about the people who run the site.

Good suggestions though!

Cheers
