Is this being done out of respect for the Purple One? Or does he actually have some godlike power to shut down an unofficial site, like he's done his own official ones. Just asking.

I can't think of any other artists who pretty much punishes his fans for loving their work. How many Michael Jackson, James Brown, Sting, Earth Wind and Fire, and Sade videos and performances are on Youtube and other fan sites, and theres no big legal brew-ha about them. I just don't dig the angle that Prince is coming from concerning this, and all the forewarnings of this unofficial fan site seems like his fans are scared to death of being banished or something. As far as I'm concerned, I paid my dues to Prince when I legally purchased his music, I owe him nothing else. So what if I want to do a rewind and see an old video on Youtube. Yes they are still there, just not really "searchable" and arranged differently / secretly. Folks can create threads with the title "FU*K" in them, but can't even dare to mention where you can find a link to an old Prince video. Please.

Not sure why he is doing this, or how he's able to do it but he's obviously putting the fear of God in the hearts of website designers / moderators. I can understand him not wanting to have his brand new albums shared (ie. no profit), but old grainy videos from the 1980's that's a bit much. But hey I can have some Cheese with my "Whine" i guess.
