I'd love to hear more about how you came to make this post if you get the time. What did that look like? Were you baking some brownies, had the tv on your favorite reality program, but at the back of your brain, it was just gnawing at you that people on the internet were bitching about Prince's placement in a TIME magazine and by god, you just had to get on the internet and do something about it?

I'm not going to take this issue by issue, quite frankly because I think i've covered this to death already.

However, I will speak to some of the more "interesting" takes in this latest incarnation of the proverbial deceased equine.

Since I usually get labeled as a "hater" in here, of course i'm speaking for that side of the debate. So as to the point about "people that hate themselves for being Prince fans", I don't think that's the issue at all. It's the same whiny ass take that because this is a "fan" site, that there's no room for any negative opinions. And it's gotten to the point where some of ya'll are SO "any and everything Prince does is genius", it tends to beg some to bring some counter-balance to the topic.

As for the whiny "Dear John" letters announcing that so and so is "leaving the Org forever" posts, I agree. Just shut up and go if you can't take it anymore. Spare us all the drama ridden responses of "why?!?!?!?" and "don't go!!!!!" and just leave. The Org will get along just fine without ya.

Is it "our duty to set crazy Prince fans straight"? Duty is a strong term. Do some of us (including myself) think that it's needed in here on occasion? ABSOLUTELY. I'll claim that one.

Now the point of The Org USED to being a place where the "moderate" Prince fan could come in and discuss all things purple, I full on co-sign that one. I don't know when exactly or why it's happened, but there's really no room for the moderate fan in here anymore. I mean i went from a "die-hard" to in my mind being a moderate fan, but on The Org now that means "hater".

So yeah, when some of ya'll are ready to throw a parade about Prince being mentioned in Time's Most Influential of 2010 and I counter with "hold on a minute, you mean the same list that has Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, Ben Stiller, the chick from Glee (Lea Michele), Simon Cowell, the dude from Twilight (Robert Pattinson), TAYLOR SWIFT AND LADY GAGA, that's me trying to throw a dose of REALITY in here that's sometimes sorely needed.

Now, i do agree that if the only thing that anyone has to contribute in here is negative then it does maybe beg the question of why would you choose to stay? However, i'd MUCH rather have MORE of that than the other side. At the core of all of it should be honesty. I think some people in here had a coronary when I had a positive review of Lotusflow3r (the album, NOT the website). So if I were truly a "hater" I wouldn't have been able to do that.

All in all, I think the rhetoric in here just needs to either get dialed down a ton, or let the "fans" keep having at it. Let the Kool-Aid Kids and the Haters keep going at each other. At least, that's some interesting reading.

Interesting thread ... I've come to agree and disagree with the existence of the org. I don't know how many times I've said it but, when I first became a fan of Prince, prince.org was the first site I found. Then I found Love4oneanother.com. I've come to understand that us, the fans of Prince here will critique his every move and I do not know if we have the "right" to do that or not but, we still do anyway. I just wish people would not personally attack Prince. We're all human, we make mistakes. Nothing is perfect expect our creator.

Not everyone who doesn't over-react to a "disappointment" like the LF site is brainwashed. There are plenty of moderates who just don't think it's so f...in' deep that it (or things like it) warrants some of the type of threads and comments that the org has become notorious for of late...

Oh, and for the record... I don't like the haters label either.
