Where Do Sane, Level-Headed Prince Heads Go To Now? Maybe it's time for a new Prince site to start up....
On one side you have the heads who can't admit when a song like "Purple & Gold" is truly horrific trash.... And on the other you have "fans" negatively obsessing over every move the man makes as if he fucked their mother or something... I remember making a post about how this place was becoming a FAMMY vs. Bitching civil war with no room for the moderate Prince fans to just come and chill and talk/debate about the music instead of going back and forth about baby videos and such.... Well, the Org has finally gone to hell at this point... Fortunately, the friendships I have made here keeps me coming back...And that's a beautiful thing... But as is....It's scarier than a motherfucker here.... | |

I consider myself to be in that moderate category that you described, and it just seems like there is no middle ground here. The negativity is suffocating. I tend to lurk now more than anything just to keep up with news. Otherwise, I feel drained whenever I make the mistake of posting because I spend the next few posts defending my right to make a "sane, level-handed" post that doesn't draw a line in the sand then throw fire at anyone on the other side of it.  perfection is a fallacy of the imagination... | |

O No new site. If anything, Prince needs to offer the faithful a place of unlimiting positivity where any negative thought is scrubbed and eliminated so that nothing but blind positivity can reign. Fams have to ask, why did Prince force all of you to come to this ultra negative place where you have to be hurt by other people's refusal to kiss Prince's gluttius maximus. He can so EASILY as has been proven in the past with NPGMC, provide a forum where all your hearts desires can be fulfilled. Unlimitted ass kissing. I was a long time Prince fan who stopped listening to Prince music 15 years ago--not because I was disenchanted with the music or even knew anything about his fight with Warner Bros! I left because of life experiences and I recently came back because of life experiences and I started listening to the music again! I find it fresh and uplifting...the old more than the new--but I like some new, too! I have liked P music for some thirty years...and I am just now joining a fan site as of a few months ago! Don't leave--there is hope for level-headed fans who love his music but can still be constructively critical about the music! Hang in here--we need you!  | |

You are needed. For instance, to throw your opinion on ONA Live from Copenhagen, which I am listening to for the first time and I love it. The only thing I can see and criticize is that is religious references after this time became more exclusive and less inclusive as in the past...he invited the audience in more than in more current venues. It would be a lesson that if you want to pass a message on--that you be more inclusive with that message than exclusive--that is the major problem I see. Just speaking as someone coming back to the scene... | |

I can dig it. That's the reason I don't post very often these days, I usually just catch up on any new info and then bug out. But, I do pay attention in hopes that sanity will prevail... I'll be ready to actively participate more when that time comes.
Don't go too far, we need all the level-headed, rational people we can get. Not dead, not in prison, still funkin'... |

This thread raises a good Q:
Many of us who don't want to marry Prince or think they know him as a person but who greatly appreciate his music (current as well as older) don't post much because it's not worth the hassle. I tell you, lots of infrequent posters are level-headed sensible people who are frustrated by some of the "debate" here and only come back for news | |

How about dissolution of the labeling of orgers in relation to expressed ideas?. He's been around so long that i'm not sure you can have a prince site without the same turf battles erupting, first of all we need to do an objective and non insulting job of identifying all the groups, how they contribute positively and how some of their negative traits affect us all. starting a new group (Moderate Prince Fans) will only invite more groups, and attacks. I could easily counter Moderate Prince fans with Radical Take no Prisoner Prince P-funk Fams to oppose everything you say lol. At some level we are all here because we support the dude but i understand when i come here which threads were authored by Fams, Disgruntled Fams, Old School Raunchy Fans, New School Fams, Prince should stick to funk pro black fans, Prince hould rock out guitar Geeks, Fans who are underground Rick James apoligist trolling the org to redeem their real hero, Wendy and Lisa trolls, I want Prince to be Gay fans, Groupie/ Every picture of Prince arouses me chick, Fantasy Business Manager Fan (to which i am a member) who diss his every move as stupid, Anti Religion Fan who use Prince's JW association to rant about their own beliefs as if Prince picking a faith is somehow a cultural game changer, Pro Religion Fan who use Prince's choices to confirm their own, Old Fuddy Duddy Fan ( to which i am a proud member) who oppose Old Raunchy Fan to make themselves feel they have more maturity and class, Pure Minneapolis Sound Fan- anything post 83'is crap 1999 is the only masterpiece, Soul Train Fan-mostly african american older who remembered Prince with the Afro and Resent him for dissing Tom Joyner, The Prince can do a great album tommorow group-small, and delusional lol, The Bootleg Nerds, The social media geeks who consider prince's stance against youtube a personal insult, The Fantasy crew who author hypothetical collabs, setlist, covers, super bands to sooth themselves of the reality he's never really been good at playing nice with others, The Take it or leave its- those fans who draw the line and go off on anybody here complaining and longing for the past. Good job on the grouping. I remember the thread, "I think it's time some of you openly address your Prince obsession" murph started back in November. It was a good thread. My opinion about this site has changed since then. You and a few others have interesting and intelligent opinions but I admit, it's March and I think I've had my fill of opinions from various groups of Prince fans.
