Moderating Hi,
What redress do .Orgers have for appealing locked threads? I ask because the lock seems somewhat arbitrary at times. Just because one or a couple people don't like a particular thread or .Orger (you know its true) what justification is there for locking people's threads? | |

If you're referring to the "Make Love" thread, it was a visual nightmare with all those hearts.

You can privately orgnote the moderator who locked the thread with your appeal. If for some reason you don't know who locked the thread, you can orgnote a mod in that forum to check for you.
Locked threads have been re-opened before. I've done it myself (though it's been a long time...). I would say that's probably rare, though. As always and per the rules, mods have the final say-so. |

This is a good place to start:
Don't post trolls/ads/spam/get-rich-quick schemes/other junk. Don't make posts that are inflammatory just to get people riled up. Don't post useless off-topic stuff. Even if a silly, no-purpose post seems harmless and fun, don't be surprised if you get a warning and the message locked/deleted. You might think it's cute, but Moderators who have to wade through tons of posts like this, don't. In general, don't post advertisements. Advertising may be allowed in certain circumstances; ask a moderator privately before posting. If a post is mostly just an ad for another website, it will likely be removed. In general, post if you have something to say. If you want to start a new thread, make it worthwhile. Don't be lazy and give a 1-sentence "what do you think about X?". At least explain your position, why, etc... make it interesting to read; you're more likely to get quality responses. If you disagree that the thread in question did not resemble any of those, for example if you feel multiple emoticons in succession does not constitute a nonsense thread then: If you don't agree with a decision, you may discuss it with the moderator who made the judgment in private. If you cannot reach resolution with the Moderator in private, contact the site administrator via e-mail (ben@prince.org), explaining the entire situation, with all relevant links/excerpts/emails, etc. Under no circumstance attempt to start a 'debate' about specific moderation decisions in a public forum. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

Well, one thread is fine if sweething wants to put a million heart emoticons in it. The problem is that she inundated the forums with the same exact posting of those hearts in an attempt to derail the topics of at least 20 threads. This is against org rules and should be noted. Check her profile and her posts to see what I'm talking about. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot. | |

I tried to insert a message of Love. Unfortunately, from my perspective my actions were misinterpreted -- a lesson reinformced -- always consider your audience. | |
