Some answers to recent questions. (Thread Count, posts per day, thread limits, SQL errors and more!) SQL Errors: Ben just took the org down and repaired a significant portion of the SQL tables, hopefully, that should speed up things and keep errors from popping up. More work may be needed so, please keep us up with error reports.
Thread count: Is back up. Thread and post limits: They do exist, without being specific, they are not overly large, but are being taken under consideration. Before you ask, no I can't tell you what they are. Please don't post guesses or post if you think you know. They'll be snipped. That info is privileged for a reason. Front page poll: It's back up, new, and now you can quantify your answer by using the (click here) link in the poll box on the front page. We'll keep you updated with other stuff if it comes up. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Well, I don't know what MY limit is, but it's obviously too large. Save me from myself, org!!!!
And what is an SQL error? Are those of us on Macs immune to them?

"They're not overly large"? Come on, of course they are - nobody has reached their posting limit in a hundred years and by every normal standard some should have, including myself on silly occasions. As for threads, there are people who've created about 10 on one day (most of them were deleted cause they were flooding or nonsense) and surely that's too much? And why can't you be specific? Wouldn't it be much better if people knew what they're dealing with so as to know what they can/want to waste posts and/or threads on?
Thanks for kind of answering, I wasn't expecting even this much as you know.

It's getting all the more cryptic I guess... For a good reason though, I'm sure!
Now threads are being locked without bothering for an explanation... even as useless and unintelligible as it was... ... in addition to threads fallen into the Bermuda Triangle... I am but mad north-northwest

Translation: we're making shit up as we go along. I seriously doubt there are limits. Otherwise some n00bs wouldn't be able to create dozens of threads, and post multiple times in them, until some admin comes along and breaks up the party. © Bart Van Hemelen

No, there are limits, they're just pretty big. If the mods want me to dial them down (and they've expressed the opinion that in certain cases, they should be -- but those cases are a little more dynamic that what the limits currently are set up for), they will be. But before I invest a bunch of time into coding more complex limits, we want to make sure we get it closer to really 'right' and not just what's reactive. It's a delicate balancing act to limit bad behavior and not annoy legitimate posters. ben -- "the prince.org guy" |
