By God, if the org isn't something truly special... It just dawned on me the other day, after emerging from the war zone that is the P&R forum (not really a war zone, that's just hype to get people to go--most of us are amazingly calm), it dawned on me that some of the subject matter (religion, racism, what-have-you) gets a treatment that it cannot get anywhere else.
Universities are too PC to speak openly about racism...and the TV wouldn't dare, unless you count a bunch of people shouting at each on Crossfire or Donohue--but that kind of crap gets you nowhere. Further, here on the org you have a chance to reflect before you post (though some skip that opportunity). The org is the one place where a bunch of strangers can meet and talk both in real-time and asychronously--live or slowly taking turns over a period of days...there's just nothing quite like it, both in format and content. It's really free and open, even if you can't flame when you want to (or is it free and open for that reason?)... Just wanted to step back and say "wow." It's truly something special, the org. Much love. Fear is the mind-killer.

I agree with you. I've been reading the org for ages, but only started contributing lately. The quality of the postings and respect for each-other has improved a lot over that time. I didn't contribute earlier, because the org was in a sad state of abuse (between org members).
It's great to listen and contribute to some of these debates, especially about 'controversial' topics. Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.
