Well I DID have ONE thread.

But the mods have decided to have 1 sticky in the music forum, 1 sticky in the Prince forum and 1 sticky in GD.

Mods have been busy all day.

why?

because people want them.

because this is a special situation.

because if we don't create a space in these forums for people to post, people are just going to keep posting threads and we're just going to keep having to lock them in all three forums. at least maybe this way, people will post LESS redundant threads in the forums.

yes, there might be logistical snafus with having the same sticky in three forums, and it's a moderation nightmare, but this is what people are asking for, and i really don't see how it's going to cause any lasting harmful damage to anyone to honor the requests of people who want to express their sadness tonight.

as time goes on and the comments slow down, we'll most likely take down the extra stickies. but for now, they stay. they're necessary for the time being.

there are some events that can't (and shouldn't) be contained in one forum.


to the mods for doing a good job.

any thoughts on some kind of banner for the front page?

With Ben's permission one was done for James Brown. There was his body in the casket and pics of people paying their respects, which some people felt was in bad taste. But not all orgers were able to pay their respects to James Brown in person, and the thread was a way for those who could not attend to view James Brown and to post.

You've made it crystal clear where MJ related comments are to be posted (imo).
Yet, even now, folks are either not seeing it (in maybe a mad rush to do an MJ thread), ignoring what you've requested or they believe that their MJ thread is somehow special and doesn't apply.

I hope to hell Prince fans will morn his death with privacy and dignity compared to the shit MJ fans pull. I mean, I can't turn on the news without him taking up 90% of the news time. Everyone here in Bangkok is suffering form MJ fatigue right now.

What his family must be going through right now with the blood thirsty media stalking them. Imagine having the grieve in the public eye.

I say those of us who don't want to see the threads, just keep on reporting them. They're supposed to be using the sticky--it's not hard to follow those simple rules.

also, i thought they would never stop talking about anna nicole smith when she died, and that went on for over a year...imagine for how long they are going to be talking about this online and on every tv show there is! i wish there would be one 2 hour tribute show on tv, and then after that the media would let the man rest in peace & give his family a break too!
