Instead of having to WAIT 5 DAYS, Why not do a TRIAL period OK, orgers wait 5 days from the time they create and account to the time they can post. But they're capable of posting as many posts and threads as folks who have been on the org for a very long time.
It just appears that it would make sense to give them a limited number of posts, say 10 or so until they've proven themselves in each specific forum. Also, I think the structure of the forums and the rights users have should not be flat. If you are constantly posting in General Discussion, you should have to prove yourself in P&R before being allowed to post as much as folks post in P&R, and vice versa. Take for Example Lammastide. His posts in P&R are smart, articulate, and very well informed. He conducts himself with a great deal of class and has become a staple of the P&R forum. But lawd are Lammastide's General Discussion threads ever embarassing. Take this shit for example: http://prince.org/msg/100/310791 What. the. hell? Lammastide should only be allowed 5 posts in General Discussion on any given day, and not be allowed to start but 1 thread a month until he's improved. Who's with me on this?

The 5-day-rule was to stop people posting immediately upon account creation. IIRC folks were getting banned, opening a new account and carrying on right where they left off. Within minutes. So a trial period would circumnavigate this.
But I'll give you for at least trying to bring forth new ideas. Well done!

I've revised my recommendation for Lammastide specifically since he's trying to taint my good name in the GD thread "Gingerdead Man 2: The Passion of the Crust".
I now recommend Lammastide be allowed to post only one thing every 5 days in that forum. Who's with me?

Charlotte and I already came up with the proper solution.
