Question

Yesterday Luv4u locked my message thread as she told me she thought someone might end up posting something passive aggressive on it....

Now I'm all for locking/cleaning up threads when they get out of hand but to lock it before anything has happened just because it could in my eyes is insane ....its finding guilt before the crime and lets face it guys if someone wants to have a go at someone they will do it on any thread or use sigs as I have seen recently.

It hardly seems fair to punish the majority because of the minority....

Having said the Luv4u was in full agreement with me and said she was going to take it up with the other mods..... Could some of the mods please tell me the outcome of this discussion and their thoughts. biggrin

Apparently pre-emptive locks are the order of the day because last week some orgers used the message threads for some passive aggressive BS and obvious messages to bait orgers. Apparently the actions of a few mean the majority of people cant now use these threads.

My question is that if this is the case why are not all race and abortion threads locked on sight?

Well then ..lock or tidy up that thread and give warning to the people involved .....isn't that what we have mods for....
But to ban future threads is a joke.....
Looks like I should take this up with Ben .....guess I'll wait till tomorrow to see if any mods actually answer....

The threads that were locked the other day were rife with those kinds of posts (as many of the threads have been in the past) and other things were going on.

luv did bring it to us and we agreed the threads can remain.

But any negative, passive-agressive anything no matter who it is "anonymously" directed at, orger or not, will not be tolerated. I made a note to that effect and allowed a "message" thread the other day but the thread's author didn't like my note so requested the thread hidden, so I complied with his/her wishes.

neutral I have to say this is the first time I have experienced real disapointment with a moderators decision and control ..... disbelief ....especially when it was agreed there was NO reason to lock that thread.....fair enough ...allowing a few hours or a couple of days for everyone to calm down .....but come on...common sense would be nice... a moderator or twos thoughts wouldn't hurt eithier lol ....I really want to hear any valid points they have so I can understand their decision better

If it is about stopping hassle then be even handed and lock all the contentious stuff. It is just an easy target IMHO.

luv4u just wanted to check in with the rest of us for clarification and make sure we were all on the same page since a few were locked the other day.

I can take a look and likely re-open it.

Thanks.

I tend to agree with that ....as it may occur more on these threads ...mods seem to want to do away with all together.....I would like to ask them to consider all the good, warm, kind .....things that make each of us smile that are also in these message threads ....

I just wanted to state that I agree with this

These types of threads can be filled with fun loving energy but are also used by some to take stabs

anyway ... the day they were locked up, many people were using them to continue on with bait/flames junk from other threads that were locked that day for THAT exact reason

that's my 1.5 cents
