A question for the mods; When responding to a report...

...why isn't the reporting member advised if the post was moderated or not? You report something and then you're only given notice that moderator XX has reviewed your request for the post to be moderated but you have to go look for yourself if something was done or not. Doesn't that seem just a bit stupid? I'd really like to know if something was done about a thing I found enough "interesting" to report. So why is this?
Thanks for reading! smile

because the decisions we make regarding someone's user account and/or status are between the mods and that particular user. if there is a special circumstance in which you feel you need to know the outcome - as in, if you feel you're being threatened or that your personal safety is somehow at risk - then contact us and we will work with you on that. otherwise, thanks for reporting, but we'll take it from there.

But if an action was taken like a snip being made, I can see that on the thread anyway! That's all I'm asking, like a notice saying "we do not feel moderation was warranted in this case" or "moderation action has been taken". Not the outcome as in a strike/ban given, but whether SOMETHING was done. You're really not protecting anybody since the person who reported it can go back to the post and see if it's still there. So why this? confuse

I usually thank the user for reporting the thread so a blank note isn't sent. If I agree or disagree is sometimes included, but usually only if I want clarification from the person reporting or some more information. Yes, snips can be seen, but any action beyond that is a private matter.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

Of course nod I understand that perfectly but I don't understand why there can't be a simple notice saying if anything was done or not... anything at all, not the specifics at all. It's more than a little bit annoying if you report post 213 of a thread and then you have to go back and find it again when 64 other posts have been added. You know?

What do you have in mind?

The problem I see is that sometimes a clear answer could be given and other times it cannot.

Just a simple "action was taken" or "no action was taken", NOTHING to do with a possible strike/ban or anything like that. Just so you don't have to bother going back to look if anything was done, no reason needs to be given from you mods, only if something was done or not.

If I snip a post or move/lock/hide a thread I don't respond cause the action can be clearly seen.

If I decide that whatever was reported was NOT against site rules and will be taking no action, I respond with an orgnote saying just that, and explain why.

If you can't see that any action was taken and didn't receive an explination, I'd go back and ask that mod about it. If you don't receive any response, feel free to ask another mod to help you look into it.

For me, the reason I don't get that specific is because that opens up the "why not" door. Then every decision becomes a potential debate. I'm open to trying things though.

Right. If someone asks me to remove a post and I remove the post, then if you see the missing post and the message from me saying "snipped", then it's a pretty safe bet that I snipped the post. It's self-evident.

Obviously, but as it is now you don't always get a response even when an action has NOT been taken.
And I guess that answers my question, thanks Carrie! rose
