I see your point, but is the org shutting down or threatened to be shut down? Is there even half of the drama here with Prince's camp as there was at HQ? Of course we don't know all that goes on behind the screens but I am pretty sure the org is not under the same fire HQ was. And I am also pretty sure there was a lot more (openly) "illegal activity" going on. Of course some would always say: "so some members told you there was but that that's just hearsay" but what do you expect? Me to serve you the "proof" on a hot plate when it is fact that the place used to be a playground for rare and unreleased material? Nah, if you ask me HQ just did a little too much too wrong for a little too long. | |

I see no reason the Org should do anything to accommodate HQ.whilst HQ may have allowed trading and videos etc IN THE PAST, it didn't in more recent times. perhaps prince's apparent hatred towards HQ was deep rooted in regards to the past, perhaps not. but that's not the point of this thread, which is simply to find out what we could maybe add to the org to maybe fill a hole or two. this thread was started with positive intentions, not to start another argument if we find out what people miss the most from HQ we can maybe see if the org can do it, or if not, maybe it can be filled in some other way, perhaps on another site it appears to me that there is a clear desire to have a whole bunch of prince facts hosted in one easy to find place. as far as i'm aware, that can be done without breaking any laws. i know there is another great factual site that's not currently working, which fills some information, but not others. perhaps that site could add some of the other missing information like a list of tourdates, released tracks, list of known unreleased tracks etc, as HQ had in stickies Neither do I -- especially since it wound up getting shut down. I don't think this thread had anything to do with accommodating HQ but rather asking what ways the org and HQ differed and if there are ways to fill in the gaps left by the quake's absence. I don't see that as a bad thing. to me, the quake was the prince library and the org is the prince coffeeshop. the thing is i don't think ben has the patience to care about content like aaron did but with some effort this coffeeshop could set up a small bookshelf. i hope the community doesn't lose all that good information permanently whatever happens.

The org has never had a bootleg forum tho' nor has it ever let its members trade openly, nor post copyrighted videos etc. So if you ask me, HQ's owner and members really didn't get it and still don't. The negative responses I keep on getting prove that beyond a doubt. Members are still complaining and blaming Prince for HQ shutting down, when Prince was in the right all the time and the org has never acted so stupid.[Edited 2/23/09 4:50am] | |

On the first page of Music and More there are at least three threads about bootlegs. Yes, HQ had a separate forum for it and the org doesn't. That's a difference but discussion about bootlegs happens on both sites. (and discussing it is legal). Futhermore in the past the org also has posted videos. Again, not in a separate forum but videos have been posted.

I remember a few years back accessing the Royal Hub thanks to direct links/posts in the bootleg forums from HQ. Was nice while it lasted. But ultimately a little silly, i suspect P had his eyes on HQ for a good few years. The org is more innocent and naive in that respect. |

I was a member of both sites. I didn't realize there was such a hatred between the two. I liked them both.
I really miss the collectible's forum on HQ. Especially the "Latest addition to your collection" thread. HQ did seem to be more for die hard fans, where as this place seems to be more of the casual fan. Not saying this site doesn't have die hards. I think there is a place for both kinds of fans. The org is wanting for nothing except a slicker design (which is criminal, given all the 'mos around here  ) and a more sensible organizational tree.
As for design, I think it'd be cool to have some of the more "aesthetically astute" orgers maybe submit a template or two (with necessary guidelines) and maybe have the org vote on a favorite design with which to freshen up the site. As for organization, I think it'd make sense to follow the general flow of many other fan sites: * Home (A really cool, but fairly minimal, splash page with news and links to the other sections.) * Press (news and news/features archives) * Artist (Biography, FAQ) * Discography (album, song, video, book, bootleg information database for P and maybe certain protege acts) * Community (forums, chat, maybe moderator blogs [but does anyone read those?  ])
* Events (Calendar of tours, parties, meetings) * Media (videos, images, soundclip, etc. in the public domain) * My Org (Orgnotes, account/profile management) ...Seems simple and comprehensive enough. [Edited 3/3/09 14:16pm] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

I notice alot of straight up trolls on the org, since I got that strange orgnote. They are in all Princes girlfriend threads. HQ gave out warnings about trolling, provoking and off topic stuff and deleted accounts of repeat offenders. Cleans it up right away. I hope yall help some of us out when we get dragged into the drama. Cuzzin'... when Spooky say dead, u better say died. | |

Well what I loved about HQ is that they only allowed ONE USERNAME!! If they found out you had multiples those got deleted. I think the ORG should enforce that to cut out the drama. | |
