Sponsor an Emoticon!..... Ok... Here's an idea for raising money to help the site without there being any onus on ben to provide a servece. 
Sponsor an Emoticon For a small "Donation" yearly orgers get the chance to sponsor an emoticon of their choice. It gives them no ownership and no rights, but it's "theirs" on the site for a year, and maybe it could be displayed below their avatar and/or in their profile.
Just a thought
