You are absolutely right.....you don't get it. When we say Prince is gay, we aren't saying it makes him less cool or less talented. Hell, if anything, being gay would make him more cool and more talented. We don't throw the term gay around as an insult. We throw it around as a compliment.

Many straight people say..."well, don't call someone gay that isn't gay". Well, you don't know that he isn't gay and even if Prince told you himself that he wasn't gay, that doesn't make it true. I could tell you I'm not gay either but I would be lying my ass off.

The point that you don't get, is that we don't like it that straight people get totally offended by the subject being brought up that Prince could even possibly remotely be gay. That shows us that even though people say they have nothing against gay people, they really do because they see being gay as an insult. A lot of straight people are constantly trying to prove themselves as being straight, let alone Prince as if being gay is such an insult that they would never want to be mistaken for it. Hell, we don't get offended when other people mistake us for straight so why does it offend straight people when the shoe is put on the other foot? It's because no matter how much they say they are open minded and have nothing against gay people, they really do. It goes deeper than Prince.

I've just gotten to the point now that most of the time I just say Prince is gay as if it were fact because straight people sure as hell don't mind stating Prince is straight as if it were fact.




So why post this if you don't care what he does in his bedroom?.....



That doesn't sound like someone that doesn't care at all about his private life to me.

P.S. I am relatively new, and an "outsider," but see the "cliques." There are definitely people one does not want to upset.

And for the record, I am not a Prince fan. But I would not say I am a music fan.. or very interested in music to get into lengthy discussions about it. I love music, but I just do not take it very seriously.. just in more a passing interest.

However, if I were a Prince fan, I would not care if he were gay. But the thing is.. how do people saying he is gay.. How do they know?

I guess I drifted to this thread to say, everyone is so sure of their opinions here--that there opinions are fact, or they state them as fact. I would think with Prince, a person would only know he is gay if they knew him, right? But yet, people state he is gay like it is fact? This is what I do not understand.

I do not understand how everyone here is so confident of their opinions as fact?
And if a person does not agree or is honest in his/her feelings, well if certain "cliques" do not like it, then this person is outcast or ridiculed. And sure this is only a forum.. but it sometimes it seems like the majority rules here.. or those who have in a certain clique rule.. well various cliques. So it does not matter whether the information beind discussed as fact is accurate, but if one objects to this accuracy then that person is "wrong" to object.

I would think Prince would not like false things written about him on a site dedicated to him, but maybe it is not worth his time to really fight it because this draws more attention to it?
