Funny how everyone assumes if we speak out that we want to save Mdiver.

Believe me, it would take more than the org to save that poor soul.

Hehehe I can talk some shit about him now that he is gone.

well, that is insightful, I assumed you wanted your hubby back. The Mdiver signatures gave me that idea. That people have "MDIVER" as signatures to protest the ban.

It would be very nice for this thread to remain open to level headed discussion about Moderation here ~ I hope that it could steer clear of bringing it to the personal level of mentioning names and so on of people that had Mod action(s) taken on them.

That's just my 2 cents on the possibility of this thread helping Mods help Orgers - That was evenstars intention, I hope

It's not funny. It's not fair. I'll resign from my post if there is someone who is here more often hat can do it, but it's not fun being out of the loop. Not fair either.

I have long ago stopped trying to search this site but I KNOW, as in I'm certain, that we had discussions on this permabanning thing before in which some mod/s (I honestly can't remember if it was more than one) stated that while the rules for mods said that all accounts should be immediately banned when they were revealed as belonging to a previously permabanned user, it was not practiced unless the person committed new offenses because "they'll just come back again anyway". That offended lots of people, among them me, and that was one of the things I blew up over back when... now I'm just not surprised anymore.
As for failure to notify members of moderation actions taken against them, if that's the explanation the server or whatever must've been broken for YEARS and I just don't believe that. IT may be part of the problem but not all of it. I suspect that some mods are extremely relieved this theory has popped up.

if ben isn't getting back to you, there's a good chance that matt might know how to add you on to the mailing list. i think ben has to invite you or add you to the list, but i'm not sure how it works.

That's not nice. no no no! sad Mods work very hard ( when they are in action) and they put up with a whole mess of shit from people. It makes it hard to really be apart of the community sometimes because...how does the sayin go....you can please some of the people some of the time but....

WHat I don't get is why people need to engage in bannable behavior. This is a site for fans of Prince, but it's also FREE. It's a little gift from Ben to all of us. The rules are there for a reason and ought to be respected on both sides. I think the Mods do a good job considering it's few that have to mod many. I also think the rules are there to help the mods out.

I agree with some that we are a close knit community...a special community...one that often defies explanation (have you ever tried explaining to someone else what the org is?) As I said before, it's a gift and it should be treated as such. If it's as precious to you as it is to others why would anyone want to taint it by not abiding by the rules...even if you don't agree with them?

For instance when a mod does warn you about something...let's say posting a youtube video. And then you do it again but in such a fashion that it goes around the rules so that there is a grey area created because you did as you were told, but missed the POINT of the warning entirely. Then that person gets banned and whines about it. This behavior should not be tolerated. This is the behavior I see time and again. Can you imagine how frustrating that has to be for a mod...to try and interpret what has happened and what the appropriate action should be?

Again the org is a precious gift...treat as such and there shouldn't be any issue. I've been here for over 5 years and have had my share of drama, locked threads, bricks thrown etc..but never have been warned. Not once.

.. but that is the problem.. people DONT CARE about the rules... that's why they act the way they act.... Mach used to post the rules every other week in the P&R forum in different threads, of what to do and NOT to ... despite her doing that, folks totally ignored it, did what they wanted to anyway, maybe because she was very nice to them, people took advantage of that... now June comes along, and put's his foot down.. and folks want to label him the bad guy (amongst the other labels that some people here were/are putting on him) ... oh well, they didnt want to accept it when Mach was being nice and there is one particular thread where a certain person went completely 'pitbull' on someone else (it was completely unnecessary) .. and it was AFTER Mach posted the rules .... you treat others how you want to be treated or else ....

I guess I assumed that all mods would be on the Mod mailing list. Also I assumed that if an orger was banned or have a serious action taken against them that ALL mods would be aware of what was going on.
Interesting.....

hmm

I guess I better go back and read through the rules one more time. pc
