Ian is a very fair and unbaised moderator - here is proof!

I am posting this because of all the people complaining about Ian as a moderator. It is common knowledge that Ian and I like one another quite a lot... we laugh at each other's jokes and have fun. I believe that we have a healthy respect for each other and are friends, but that does not stop him from doing his job as a moderator and setting me straight when he needs to. I can accept this, as I am the one who broke the rules...

Let's look at this objectively... he has a job to do and he does a fine job at it... he has told me to shut the fuck up a few times and we are still friends on here. My advice is: Don't take things so personally when you get "moderated."

Hi Tony,

How is life with yourself? Hope it's all good.

Just Orgnoting you to let you know that I gotta lock your thread "Debate the concepts of christianity versus agnosticism / atheism - for RaneStarr" coz of the flaming - come on man, "dumbass" - this isn't exactly intelligent conversation here!

...it pisses me off because I gotta clean up the aftermath and the flames, and it has gotta take up a lot of your time.

So, don't let her bug you and try to hold on on those flames OK? Getting sick of locking your threads dammit

Take care

Ian

Here, here! smile

At least he doesn't say things like...

"You've posted a really great thread...
...for me to poop on!"

But, seriously, Ian has been doing a great job, in my opinion. It's probably difficult to moderate people and manage to remain part of the crowd, but Ian has done it and I applaud him.

I agree... I think Ian is very fair and unbaised. He's also fun and I think it's great that he participates in discussions, instead of just moderating.

What thread are you talking about, shausler? I noticed you had posted a thread yesterday, asking where your thread went, and then that was gone. Your poetry thread is still here, if that's the one you're talking about.

Well, I think you're all lovely and very kind! Except 2the9s obviously - I'm upset with him because he hasn't ever played one of his clever little Orgnote jokes on me. Not once! What's up 2the9s, I'm good enough for you is that it? smile

As regards biased moderation etc, I'll say this: although the site is far from perfect, there is a huge amount of time put in each day by the mods to keep the site running. Between (a) doing all that moderation stuff and (b) trying to continue contributing a bit and staying active on the site, I really don't have time to form any bias or get involved in Org politics etc and to enforce biased moderation decisions etc.

Certainly, there's no intentional bias on the part of any of the moderators on the Org. I do treat my "Org duties" an entirely separate from my posting on the site. If you see a rule-breaking post from someone that hasn't been snipped, it is usually because we just haven't seen it. There are so many posts each day, we rely on people reporting problematic posts to us because quite often they "slip through the net".

I hope no one makes the mistake of thinking "Oh Ian locked my thread, it must be because of that disagreement we had in thread X or Y four weeks ago" etc. I never hold grudges - mainly because my memory isn't that good, I forget an argument after a day or two! biggrin

Tom

If you're not familiar with the org, Ian's moderation can at first seem like a stranger pimpslapping you and telling you to shut the fuck up for no good reason.

However, it's an insignificant quirk when you compare it to some of the other things people say and do on here LOL.
