Listing IP Addresses on Posts?

Curious about this...have you considered posting peoples ip address next to their logg-in name or AV?

Or do we want aliases and duplicate accounts to thrive?

What is everyone's thoughts on this? I would rather not have the aliases...

I would rather not have the aliases either, but for those of us who don't have aliases or cause any trouble, I think it would be a bit of a privacy invasion. I DO think, though, that it would be good for the moderators to have access to that information.

I don't know enough about it, but unless the org had their own system to show these #'s without giving other sites our info, then i wouldn't mind. Also, i would think the more computer savvy user would find a way to get around it.

i know that imusic used to list something...maybe not the whole IP address, but something...

and we loved it when some idiot would create fake accounts to flame someone else...it only took one responce pointing out the obvious...

I asked about this a few days ago and it ended up looking like a bad idea...

I don't want that. I'd rather deal w/ an alias (which really isn't that big a deal, IMO) than to have my privacy invaded...

Heavenly

I know Ben has access to the IP info, I don't know if the moderators have though.
I think it's a bad idea, because of hackers. if they know your IP, it's pretty easy after that to hack into your computer.

Better leave it as it is.
Unless you get attached to someone here, it doesn't really matter if someone has 1 or 50 names here, they're all "virtual" people.

4LOVE

Maybe the ip's can be altered maybe to spell a name or something. That way the ip would have a signature to separate it from everybody else's and still keep the info from the public.
