New moderators

So when will the new moderators be revealed? What's happening with the gallery now that Dansa and Nana have supposedly left?

I have a confession to make: I feel I may be responsible for the delay on the moderators situation.
A while ago, I borrowed a few yet-to-be-issued moderators' mallets for a project that I was working on (don't ask) & I haven't yet returned 'em.
I think I may have misplaced 'em.
Or maybe, I may have pawned 'em off.
Cuz, lemme tell you, when I start jonesing for fix, I'd sell off anything & not remember it afterwards.
Heck, I'd pawn off my first-born,
if I had one.

Which I don't.

At least, I hope I don't.

Damn.
Where the fuck did I put those goddamn mallets.....?

Do "normal" Orgers get to have ANY say in the choice of new mods, I mean do our recommendations in the blog thread count at all? Personally I find it weird that so few people have had opinions on the matter when you KNOW they're gonna bitch when new mods are at work (regardless of who it is).

What's funny is, all the sincere comments "normal" orgers made after someone announced they were applying was listed by ben on the "ballot" (for lack of a better word) when we were deciding.

"Were" deciding? As in past tense? Meaning a decision has been made?
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

The ones that aren't mods or owners of the site.

No, meaning we have all given our comments and suggestions on a graph ben created. Some cream rose to the top and makes me think they will be selected. Ben has yet to ratify this.

We will know soon enough (for some of us, soon can't come quickly enough).

Here's my personal opinion about P&R moderation.
There has been some discussion on the Race thread about Mach needing more help/more mods.
I did not want to put this there because it is NOT a race issue.
P&R forum is for Politics & Religion and all of the other topics that the mods feel should be in there and not other forums like GD.
I feel like it is a HUGE job moderating all of the topics that are covered in P&R.
We have orgers in there that are posting from all around the world and Mach cannot be expected to be around or available 24/7.
I know that the point could be made that if we all followed the rules then the mod job there would not be so big. I guess that would be true in a perfect world, a perfect forum.

We are all human and we all have opinions. Some stronger than others.
I think there is a need to have more help in P&R.
Who knows Mach might need/want to take a break from this place like the rest of us do from time to time.
June 7 has done a great job helping out but judging by the comment he made in here earlier, it seems like he is a bit stressed and overwhelmed as well.
It is not an easy job. I think that most of us get that.
Thanks for listening and allowing me to speak my mind.

peace!

First, thanks for the nice comment.

It's not that I'm stressed or overwhelmed, I am familiar with the way P&R is... it's just never been my cup o' tea. I used to post in here often back in the early days, then figured - hell, who needs the argumentative nature of that forum. Afterwhich I was hardly ever there. When Mach was asking for help, I volunteered, knowing full well what I was getting into. When I said I wanna get the hell outta there, it's more tongue in cheek than anything else.

Is it my favorite forum? No. Is it more work? Yes. But, I volunteered for it, and I'm cool with it... but when the new Mods are in place, I won't be missing it. biggrin

Your welcome. I figured you were joking for the most part. As I can tell by Machs comments she has really appreciated your help.
I know what you mean about P&R. It is really strange for me to think back to 2003 when I first signed up to the org. It was the first and only forum I contributed in. Then I got frustrated by being misinterpreted and decided to stay in GD. I must say that I missed being in there at times especially during really political times.
Anywho... I am glad to hear that Ms Mach is going to get help and you can go back to doing what you enjoy more.
P&R gets a bad wrap but I find it very informative and there are many wonderful ppl that post in there. I do get frustrated when I hear that ppl are afraid to speak there minds in there for fear of being judged or harassed.
I think all of us have felt that from time to time. It is part of an open forum involved some touchy(intense) subjects.

I have a mods opinion, org rule (etiquette) question.
If you are on a thread and it is getting sort of off topic or there is some one who is saying something you really have an issue. Or something that pertains to another thread, is it better to say something in a post or do you recommend taking it to orgnote?

If it's an off topic post that's ongoing, a friendly "Hey, can we get back on topic? smile " note is okay. If it's something that you take issue with, offer your opinion in a respectable way. If it gets "hairy" after that, report it to the moderator, and we'll look into it.

Thanks for asking. smile
