Absolutely, the org is an entity unto itself....

Look at its storied history from its ftp days, to its evolution, to the recent controversy surrounding it. I say yeah.

This is a bit of a difficult question for me.

I think it would all depend on who writes the page and if it will be locked so nobody can edit it. You know how on Wikipedia ANYONE can write whatever they want about something unless its locked for editing.

It'd be interesting to go into the history of the site (it is 10 years old, after all), then state that in addition to Prince, there are many different forums where you can post just about anything. Then there's also a real-time chatroom where you can get to know other people a little better.
There could also be statements about the rules, like how bootlegs can be discussed, but not exchanged, and that videolinks (YouTube, Myspace, etc.)cannot be posted.

Just so long as it doesn't reflect poorly on Prince (though it may be difficult considering that the whole "cease & desist" thing is still on the homepage), I would go for the idea. thumbs up!

Yeah, Ben should write it and it should be locked. nod

Now watch some dumbwit create a page... anybody who does it who isn't Ben should be perma-banned. For fucking REAL.

I guess Ben could write it, but that would pretty much defeat the point of a wiki, plus it would make it more a self-promotion/advertsiement etc., which is strictly against wikipedia's rules (we are talking wikipedia, no?). And I've never heard of wikipedia getting "approval" from the subjects of their articles before they are posted.

Plus, wikipedia has a system in place for dealing with vandals, trolls etc. and frankly it's a lot better than what this site has, so I'm not sure what people are worried about.

So I checked out Wikipedia to see if anyone has dared to create a page... nope, not yet. I'm glad, because I am in agreement that if anyone did it, it should be Ben, or at least he should have some say in it.

We are listed as a point of reference though:

prince.org - The largest and longest running online Prince fansite with current news, interviews, gallery, with moderated chat rooms and lively discussion forums.

That's cool... wink
