While we are on the subject of banning

There are some of us here boxed that will no doubt have a rap sheet longer than Jeffery Dhamer here and on a top up/strike basis the smallest of things could get a perma ban...see the Ben situation.

However there are also some here that appear to be trying to turn over a new leaf and get away from old habits. Alot of what gets people snipped or warned is passion and belief which when tempered with respect is a good thing.

My question is: If a person proves to be trying to do something about previous bad habits is there any leniency given for such or indeed removal of old transgressions so to speak to give more headroom?

Just wondering.
peace

I certainly think so, I mean that people who do try to reform are given more headroom as you put it. At least thinking if I was a mod (Heaven forbid) I'd look at a report and the offender and think "ok, this guy/woman hasn't done anything in 18 months, before that s/he was an asshole but now it seems to have gotten better. I'll just send a friendly reminder this time and not issue a strike" but somebody who's on their umpteenth offense (which shouldn't even be possible wink ) would get banned. I have that much confidence in our moderators.
I used to be big trouble apparently but I haven't recieved a warning in a loooong time, I'm aware we have no right to ask about where we stand but wouldn't it be useful for both mods and users to be able to use it sometimes? I mean a mod could say "look, you've broken site rules 5 times in the past month and you have been warned so suck it up" or "look, you've behaved well for 10 months and we appreciate that but no more foolishness"... or some people like me would just very much like to know what they've actually been warned for doing in the past. sad

This is not my alter! fit
And I have never ever posted a nasty post to anyone under this or my old Illustrator account hmph!(something that, I must say, I am very proud of).
But more to the subject,
I think the problems & questions on this thread & the "Setting The Record Straight" thread could all be fixed if we just followed what the 2the9's has been abdicating: create an Amy Winehouse forum.
