Are they getting out of hand? I say no. Create a thread specifically to bitch about MJ, and there are other threads criticizing other artists (even Prince), and it isn't even allowed to get off the ground. MJ should not be above any questioning or criticizing.

And if you do create a special forum for that mess then you need to make sure the forum is especially for all the most discussed artists i.e. janet, mariah, vadge etc.....

But really, that is what this forum is for. If the MJ stalkers are taking over then it is our fault for not countering with interesting and relevant non prince music threads!

If there's a majority of posters whose musical knowledge consists of All MJ - All the time, then so be it.
You can't regulate musical experience/preference.


The answer to my What's the average age of the "Music:Non-Prince" poster? question, pretty much told me everything I needed to know about why this was happening. Being that the age turned out to be approx. 35 years old would mean that the majority were born around 1973.
What was the hot musical Pop ticket for someone growing up in that era? A lot of the Jackson 5 followed my the intial MJ solo albums.
If they searched out nothing else, they would have definitely heard that.


Miles (and a few others) have probably had the most elegant solution.
For those that are allowing the periodic flood of MJ-posts to get to them, come up with some posts about other artists.


Whether there should be an "Icon Section" or an "MJ Sticky" is really just a bandaid technique.

There are "rules" already in place...

1) MUSIC: Non-Prince
2) Go easy on the multiple same-topic/artist threads -
3) Unnecessary, silly or pointless threads may be locked or removed at moderator's discretion.

...to take care of this issue.

However if they're not going to be enforced, what's the point in trying to somehow manipulate the board to take care of it.

If you really want to go to another level on this thing, take point #1.
Since the name of the forum is MUSIC: Non-Prince, why are so many GOSSIP-type posts allowed remain?

Many of the MJ posts aren't even about his MUSIC! And MJ's not the only culprit.
The Britney Celebrity Crotch Shot, Madonna's Man Body, The Weekly Weave Report, Where Will Winehouse Wakeup Wednesday?, [fill in the Perez Hilton blank] seem to be some of the recurring type themes.


If anything were to be changed about the forum...



...my vote would be to send the GOSSIP posts to another area.

Or if the namesake of the forum isn't going to be upheld, then change it.

I don't really mind people talking about anyone, Michael is a musical legend.

But (as I mentioned re: Prince) it might be nice to have a celeb more forum that's separate from the music forums.

NO!!! Do NOT create a separate MJ-Forum just for the endless MJ threads here please! Then you'd be giving them what they have always wanted! Do not give in to them. What you all don't realize is that for the past 2 1/2 years there has been a very covert, evil and malicious plan made and carried out by the many diehard MJ fans to achieve world domination, one messageboard at a time! The first messageboard on their wicked little list of mass destruction was the Prince.org messageboard...and if all goes as planned and they get their own MJ-subforum, then its off to the next messageboard to divide and conquer (which I have been informed is Chris Brown's messageboard).
And they won't stop until either all the messageboards in the online universe are completely converted to nonstop MJ topics or until they get their own MJ subforums on another artist's messageboard!
Diehard MJ fans plans are basically this: Today: the Prince.org messageboard. Tomorrow: THE WORLD!!!

Believe me, I've seen their plans for world domination...they're ruthless...and scary...and evil...in fact I may be putting my life at risk by putting all this out here...they know who I am and where I live...they are always watching...

Ok I was just kidding with all that But seriously, I think Anx's idea is the best idea. Also think it would be a great idea for all the MJ diehards on here to gather together and form their own MJ.org website--that way they can have as many MJ threads as they want and not be bothered by the "haters".

I have a confession to make.
On more than one occassion,
I've beaten up an MJ fan out in the org-parking lot.
Not that I have anything against Michael's music or his fans.
It's just that....well.....they are just such easy-pickin's.

It seems to me like people only complain when there are numerous Michael Jackson threads, which is unfair. This is something that should apply to all artists, not just Michael. Right now, I am tired of all the Madonna and Janet Jackson threads on here. At this moment there are 5 threads each about Madonna and Janet on the first page alone,now if this was Michael you'd hear orgers and certain mods bitching. All I'm saying is be fair about it.

Well it looks like the MJ threads are dying down but now I have this question. Why are there so many damn Madonna Threads in the Non-Prince section? Why aren't the mods locking threads and telling people to relocate their posts to the Madonna sticky that's on the top of the page? And the answer "A new album is coming out" isn't acceptable. When the MJ threads were blowing up, everyone was in arms but now that there are like 3 or 4 Madonna threads, no one's saying much. A new album be damned, there needs to be equal treatment with all threads/subjects.
