You hit the nail on the head and that was discovered in the "olive branch" thread.

could it just be possilbe for everyone to instead of getting personal just ignore the posts of the people that push their buttons?

like i know at certain times i can't talk to my biomother or my drag mother because i know they can push my buttons and cause me to fly off the handle, at those times i just don't talk to them.

But how about going the proper step further and punishing those that DO make it personal to begin with? That's a lot better than having to weed through the "personals" in order to get to the posts on the topic at hand.

we all either chose to engage those people or not. just because one says something doesn't mean we have to respond. at some point they will move on or the rest of the community will stop it. a couple years ago we had an orger that got really personal with sos and the rest of the regulars in PnR banned together in requesting a permaban.

I don't have to respond to every comment someone addresses to me. Like when I've run into extremely anti-gay and homophobic people when I'm out as a Sister. They all say some pretty mean and hateful things and I could get upset and start some arguement but in the end that is giving them what they want. In light of that most of the time it's a thank you or bless you and a smile and go about my day.

i know i've gotten tired of watching two people go at and building their armies.

I don't even respond to topics I would normally be interested in because of the fighting. It's a shame because both have so much to bring to the table.

But don't you agree that if the baiters are eliminated, you wouldn't have to avoid certain threads or P&R altogether? That's my point. Ignoring baiters is one thing, and that's cool, but getting rid of them completely is the best solution for all.

Why can't we respond to the topic and not the ones trying to get the thread locked? I still think an ignore button would be great. At least in P&R. cool

But the tone was being set with the "they" do with this and "they" say that stuff.

Each person speaks for themselves and that "they" stuff only keeps the BS going.

Now I'm sure nothing will be done. Just locking a thread does nothing.

That was a clear case of baiting.

i can't see what was worth reporting on that thread to make it worth locking (not saying that you did personally, just going on what june7 posted), other than maybe eraclito's teasing jab at american orgers. the only other 'they' remark i can see anyone having a problem with is what mdiver said in one post, early on. there were people on past threads that hated on tiger and called him names, so i don't see what the issue is with that. & regardless, it could've been snipped if a mod thought it broke the rules & saw it as bait, right? unless i'm missing other 'they' focused remarks, i just don't see why that thread was worth shutting down. there wasn't a flurry of flaming or personal attacks.

i dunno, obviously we just can't discuss tiger in p&r or something. lol

locking (shrug) That's up to the mods. And you should know, that mods could handle situations in a number of ways but they decide.

as far as the rest, we interpret things as we want.

You leave - the Mob mentality wins

It is by far easier to simply group people together then address each person for who and what they are - it's lazy and even safer to do so - It's really a reflection on that person when they project like that nod it's also a reflection to not engage in the games

As I told another concerned P&R orger - the cliques, groups, gangs, mobs whatever you choose to call them are here - just as they are in all of human relations

Mach

Just thoughts ...

The P&R forum is about debate ... it's part of debating to "bait" to troll around and throw out bait and then even ride the line of "flames" in the process of debating something one feels passionate about

Each thread posted, the title alone could be bait
Each comment afterwards could be seen as bait to engage the next person
Bait is offered and one can choose to take the hook and run or one can choose not to.

We're really damned if we do damned if we dont in modding that forum - If we took action on each and every bait/troll/flame the forum would soon come to almost a stand still and even then people would complain about how things are not exactly to their liking or fair in their eyes I know many are frustrated - I too get frustrated

We are in the process of gaining another Mod or two to add to P&R ~ perhaps that will help balance out the different energy and modding styles

But mach, you know its hasn't been like this in a very long time. This stuff reminds me of Icenine and all of that drama.

This isn't about the "ART" of debate. I've been in p&r too long and I've been flamed, baited, etc. but this vibe is different.

I do know you do your best.

I have watched and noticed the shift of energy nod and agree this isn't really the "art" of debate but a lower vibration more like consistant persoanal attack/projection from people that hold onto things that do not serve them in a positive fashion- "It" feels stuck and almost consumed yet happy to be so ...

I do not remember Icenine. If it was before 3.5 yrs ago I was not a member then ...

I try to do my best but I also realize that I do not nor can always do the very best for all involved

roseI am learning every moment and open to change and growth
