One thing I just noticed, this is part of the press release that uses the word phoney in it

"The issue was simply to do with in regards to copyright and trademark of images and only images, and no lawsuits have been filed."

I have checked the Patents Office website online and cannnot find a single trademark registered in his name

Nothing, nada

Might be useful if his "representatives" can provide trademark numbers

Did I forget to mention, claiming a false trademark in the UK is an offence?

it was Sunday night. Instead of doing what i usually do, like post on the org, I just read about prince's latest hissyfit and try not to be sick. If I run out of puke can I borrow some of yours?

We had your back all these years, prince. Shit I went to paisley all those lonely weekends during the rave era and tried to convince my friends that you were still the shit. Heck, I even bought 1999 the new master. You owe some thanks to the fans who stuck with you through that shit.

What we need to do is start posting hordes of videos on certain video sharing sites, letting the world see us rip up our planet earth CDs. His lawyers will take them down but the message will be clear. P. F. U.

Sorry about caps etc. Typing on iPod.

He's exposing himself as a real steaming fucking monkey dickhole, isn't he? This whole thing is pathetic. He's losing more fan loyalty than he could EVER gain by controlling whatever fucking images he thinks he needs to control.

Here's an image for you, little man: Me taking a big slinky shit right on my copy of Planet Earth, and then mailing it back to Paisley Park C.O.D. Eat it, billy jack bitch.

I've been on the Org since the purple and black days and I know it is not run by bootleggers trying to exploit me.

PRince isn't trying to give me shit for free!
I don't want his heavily patrolled sites! I want the heavily patrolled org.

Prince's tactics are REALLY lowering my opinion of him. I'm going to start hating him.

(I'm serious).

I'm starting to feel the same way. This whole thing leaves me feeling more disgusted than I did after listening to Planet Earth.

The difference between the artist and the artist's lyrics is large enough to drive a fan mad. Luckily, most of us have grown to accept the hypocrisy and just enjoy the music. Like the man singing the words and playing the guitar is a character in a movie separate from the actor portraying him.

What you need to do - what every fan that is pissed needs to do - is stop buying his products and stop visiting his website. That and that alone will make him see the error of his ways. Not just because of the loss of money, probably moreso because of the loss in attention and popularity. If the fans don't stop lining his pockets and giving him the attention he craves, this current "drama" would likely only result in an even more heavy Paisley Police patrolled prince.org site. After a while that won't be satisfying to him anymore, and then he will start threatening fans with law suits again. Just like he did last time, and the time before. It will just go on and on, as long as "the fans" can't do without their "fix", no matter how bad it is.

as long as people like his music and performances people will shell out their money - the majority probably never even visit a website like this and probably not aware of all the current goings on

I was talking about "fans", you know people that do frequent sites like this and his own, not radnom folks who buy a cd every now and then or visit a concert once in a while. And I am not sure if you noticed it, but this nonsense has become news all over the world. Many major news organisations reported on it, every music magazine devoted an article, bloggers were on it and it's even discussed on TV shows. Practically everybody that never or hardly heard of Prince now heard of him.

Yes now everyone has heard of him, and the overall reaction seems to be people think he is a complete cock due to the actions of his "representatives"

I've seen very little support for his position in the media and plenty of condemnation

well i think if i asked the people i took to see prince this summer (about 40) they would all go again as most thought it was oneof the best performances they had seen from anyone - you cannot argue with that

That isn't the point

The point is anyone who isn't familiar with princes' music to date wouldn't bother even trying it after reading the latest press releases

I wonder whether the response to him from London overwhelmed him and he's just freaking out a bit or has hit the self destruct button to make a break from the past - cannot be easy when everyone wants you to keep singing the same old stuff but as an artist you obviously want to create new stuff - well who am i to pontificate - confused

I have no idea

Whoever is advising him though is causing a nice little public relations disaster

They do say the candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long

Either that or there is a total void in his personal life and thats whats behind it

Well the whole issue made news globally on virtually every major and minor newspaper and on tv

The latest stunt is threatening to sue b3ta.com and threatening to close their website down if they didn't remove the prince challenge parodies

The problem is he has vast resources to throw at people, people not being able to fund a legal defense are simply caving in

I cannot wait until one of these cases goes to court

My expertise is limited to UK law but even I know some of the demands made would't hold up in a court of law

I think prince.org ate my reply so I will try again

Basically b3ta is a place where people can post humorous pictures and gifs etc

When he who must not be named for fear of being sued threatened to sue the fan sites they ran a competition called the prince challenge

People posted photoshopped pics or gifs they made

All original work and all their own copyright

Next thing you know b3ta gets threatened with a lawsuit unless they remove the items

So because they cant afford a legal defense they cave in

I think everyone would, its the music thats important

Unfortunately all this legal thuggery has impinged on peoples rights

Amazes me why some people cant just act reasonably

I havent seen anyone object to the removal of his intellectual property

Its telling people what they can do with their intellectual property that has been riled

That and threatening to close websites like princefansunited because someone doesnt like whats posted

Interesting WS hasnt tried threatening newspapers or tv stations over the same material they post isnt it

I wonder why

In the end, Prince will lose respect and admiration from 90% of his "fans" and working class people, and he'll be left all alone, performing a few greatest hits shows for rich people like in the Hamptons.

Personally, I can never respect Prince again -- but what the hell... I have all of his old albums and can download for free anything of his that I could ever want. I'll never give him another dime of my money. Prince is a person who uses his class power to threaten those lower on the chain... he's equal with the lobbyists of the RIAA, record company executives, and evil lawyers, and should be viewed/treated as such for now on. He's definitely not one of us.

Just my 3 cents...
