This crap needs to stop now! If Prince doesn't want anyone to talk about him, his music, or his performances, then he shouldn't be putting himself out in a public way in the first place. He can go to whatever remote cabin in the woods in rural Minnesota and perform his music there so no one can talk about him. Otherwise, he's just going to have to deal with his fans talking about how great 1999. Purple Rain, and Sign O' the Times were, what pieces of crap Chaos and Disorder and Crystal Ball were, and any home videos of babies dancing to his music and teen girls shaking their rumps in their bedrooms to DMSR.

He's being a total control-freaking douchebag here, but the thing about the internet is that once you put something out to be shared, you basically give up control of that item. Now it's one thing to request that copyrighted stuff posted illegally be taken down, but getting into a hissy fit because someone posted an old public picture or video of you doing something that you are embarrassed to be associated with today is too bad. All of us have done something publicly in the past that we are not proud of, but we just deal with it and move on. No matter how hard you try to erase your history, it's going to be seen one way or the other.

I have no clue why Prince views his biggest fans and supporters as adversaries. It makes no sense to me. Any other artist would be THRILLED to have such a large, vibrant, active fan base in an on-line community.

I really think Prince is out of touch with reality. Maybe alot of the stuff in the Hahn book about him being isolated and living in his own Purple dream world are accurate.

Just when he was close to completely redeeming himself earlier this decade... he had a chance with his newly-refound popularity, with his high-profile appearances, his success with Musicology... he had a chance to hit new heights in his career. But he frittered it away with erratic promotion of all 3 albums, and now this.

He's going to be an afterthought again, or just a joke.

And frankly it's getting to the point where I don't give a fuck. I mean, how many times can you defend the man and try to swallow it because you like "If I Was Your Girlfriend?" At some point the truth about the man behind the music has to have some influence on whether fans can continue to support him.

I dunno, it's very very frustrating. Just the thought of playing "Planet Earth" right now makes me oozy.

This is a prime example of NO F#@KING COMMON SENSE!!!!! Once a person decides to become a public figure (i.e.,celebrity, politician, author, etc.) that person is F#@KED until centuries after death.

We the fans need to counter-threatened Prince Rogers Nelson for being a DUMB F#@K and not knowing about the Fair Use Doctrine.

Then NOTICE HIS DEPOSITION.

Put him in a conference room, with a court reporter, swear him in, and make him answer your questions. He'll hate that.

If Prince ultimately loses this - and I suspect he will - I wonder if he'll go into reclusive pouting mode.

Maybe just retire from the industry and sulk in his studio for hours on end producing masterpieces that he'll take great joy in knowing that nobody will ever hear.
