How is a photoshopped image not considered a caricature?

let's say i wanted to take a picture of a funny clown and use photoshop to place the head of, oh, say....PRINCE...on the clown body.

how is this not considered a caricature or a form of parody?

i can understand how someone would find photoshopped images of themselves distasteful (BELIEVE ME, i know that feeling), but i don't understand how photoshopped images are considered verboten or illegal.

help?

Especially when it is blatantly obvious and/or clearly stated it is an artist's representation. I don't see how it can be considered anything BUT a caricature.

Can Imago work some Photoshop magic of Websheriff, then? There are plenty of pics for him to choose from on the lame ass Websheriff website.

what if it's a picture of someone wearing a t-shirt of prince, and we photoshop the picture of prince on the t-shirt? technically, we're not photoshopping prince. we're photoshopping the person wearing the prince t-shirt. biggrin

Excellent point!

I think Websheriff should read Walter Benjamin's essay "The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction."
